40th Anniversary of the Magnavox Odyessy ONE!

Since this is a for sale item, its in the appropriate space...but stop to consider, this year is the 40th anniversary of the Odyssey One. The release date of this system was in 1972 as the copyright date on the box says. I was in awe to find this unit, dunno if it works or not, but to find this thing in the wild complete with everything in a case is a pretty amazing find don't you think? Surprising I haven't seen much talk about this milestone.

I still have our original one that my father brought home. Many of the pieces are still sealed as we mostly used it for Pong.

I remember reading about the Odyssey in a book years ago: the first one I knew about when I was a kid was the '2' model. It was a trip to know there was one out even before that!

 

Like many things, unless it was popular, it doesn't seem that anybody cares. But this is a milestone, for sure...without it, where would modern gaming be? Ralph Baer was the man!
