ColecoDan
Nice. I hope J-F is grabbing that photo for his website so he can show that different power supply.

NIAD
Here a few pics of the CBS ColecoVision sold in Australia, which I have supplied to J-F previously, with the same vented Power Supply.
misspent_youth
Yikes! I have a trickle charger for the riding mower battery that's about that size. I wonder if it put out more heat than the NA brick/wall warts (hence the vents). Edited June 8, 2012 by misspent_youth
Rybags
Local distributors substituting in their own PSUs for low volume sales devices was probably fairly common. Atari computers were a similar deal although the power bricks appear to be the same but with a totally different sticker on top. Makes some sense given that a PS is generally heavy and it could save on import costs. That particular PS - looks fairly professional, similar to the sort of thing you'd buy from a decent electronics parts shop. Practically any PS will pump out heat, they'll often survive entirely well without venting but good venting helps prevent undue wear on the plastic case at the least.
