digitalpress #1 Posted January 27, 2003 (excluding our Euro friends of course, though you can look at this from the opposite direction... do you collect NTSC?) I started getting into this about 7 years ago and built up a really nice library of PAL games. I thought the Quelle stuff was particularly interesting, and still enjoy the ITT games. But when the "import" market really started going nuts, and at every collector meeting someone would pull a stack of non-US games out of a bag that I had NEVER heard of before, I backed away. Something about collecting in an area that has a virtually unlimited library that's a bit daunting. Still, I've got the "old" PAL stuff, somewhere around 200 different cartridges. Just curious as to who's collecting them and why!
MattyXB #2 Posted January 27, 2003 I collect PAL games, because I live in a PAL country. But I collect too NTSC games. Because most Rare games only release as NTSC.
charin #3 Posted January 27, 2003 At this moment I only own NTSC carts (Brazilian and North American), but I really would like to get a few samples of Australian and German carts, more for the label. I really like weird stuff. Most collectors where I live hate pirate Atari 2600 carts, but I like such carts. Sergio
oesii #4 Posted January 27, 2003 Joe, do you play any of those Pal games or just collect them? I've happened upon some Pal 7800 games and have traded them away because they won't work on my console and I'm 99% interested in playing games right now. Some people here have Pal machines to play the games and still keep their old tv's with v-hold for those pesky pal 2600 games

Some people here have Pal machines to play the games and still keep their old tv's with v-hold for those pesky pal 2600 games I play some of them! I have a TV that magically is not affected by the differences in the PAL signal on the 2600. It's MYSTERIOUS! Anyway I have a 2600 hooked up to it and lots of PAL carts around. I haven't had the same luck with 7800 though. 2 or 3 PAL games, none of 'em work
san-d-2000 #6 Posted January 27, 2003 Collecting everything overhere, PAL or NTSC, it doesn´t matter. I must admit I´m a bit of a sucker for exotic label variations -San
JCroniger #7 Posted January 27, 2003 I love the Pal carts. I really like the Quelle and S.S. labels. The Austrailian carts are very interesting too (HES, John Sands). The PAL multicarts are the best..... 128-1, 64-1 etc.
benjam138 #8 Posted January 27, 2003 I get PAL carts when i can. I had to buy an older TV with Vertical Hold to play them though. But, it's the only way I could get an Ikari Warriors without paying a fortune. Hey and if anyone has any PAL carts they wanna get rid of, let me know. Ridenmy65 #9 Posted January 27, 2003 I collect PAL games also. I went out and found a compatible Television so that way I can play them also. It's definately a conversation piece. I was lucky enough to find an ITT Pal game in the wild once. I think that is when I realized there was a differance, because I went home to play it and of course you all know what happened. Xot #11 Posted January 28, 2003 I too collect PAL games. I got started on it last year in Philly when someone - it may have been the DP guys - was selling PAL carts for a whopping $3.00 a pop. I bought something like 50 of them About 20-30% were repackaged games I already had, but there were a lot I didn't and a fair number were really, really good games. Since my TV doesn't seem to mind them (they don't roll) I don't see any reason NOT to collect them. Some of my favorite PAL titles are Spider, My Way, Basis-Angriff, and Mission 3,000. Others that I enjoy playing are Snail Against Squirrel, Pac-Kong and Weltruam-Tunnel. Yes, I know most if not all of these have NTSC versions but I don't have them so I play what I got. I also have Dancing Plates (Dishaster) and I must say that this is THE most boring 2600 title I have.
+Mitch #12 Posted January 28, 2003 I collect PAL 7800 games, does that count? I have a complete collection of them in fact, except for a few label/company variations. Mitch http://atari7800.atari.org
BoOchan! #13 Posted January 28, 2003 I Only Have PAL Games Cause I live In a PAL Country Too, But i don;t mid it if I found an NTSC game, Due tot he fact that my Games TV accepts Pal, Secam, and Ntsc. MattG/Snyper2099 #14 Posted January 28, 2003 I collect PAL only carts. Meaning, they were games only available on PAL carts. These are also reffered to as PAL exclusives. Some examples are Asterix and Aquatack. These weren't available in NTSC format (excluding protos). I have no desire to obtain all PAL games, just the one's that are either impossible to play as NTSC or, outrageously expensive. (BOMB NTSC carts fall into this category. MattG.
