I'll give it a go.

Thanks.

On another note...I wonder how much more color could be crammed into a narrow playfield image. You'd have more time to prepare for each line and less refresh stuff to deal with. It might be an option for pictures that don't turn out well otherwise.

Here's the current progress. It's looking pretty good already. This could come out much better if the frog was isolated.

Here it is with the background de-saturated. That should shift resources to the frog.

Here's the first attempt. I used laoo pallette, jarvis dithering. 466,116,194 iterations and 8.781321 normal distance

frog.xex

Here's all the files used if you want to continue the conversion.

RastaConverterBeta7_InitialFrog.zip

Edit #2

Tried the one with background toned down, and even though the normal distance is closer (6.8 after 520 million iterations), I think it looks worse due to horizontal banding. I am going to completely remove the background and see how good just the frog will convert.

frog_2.zip

Edit #3

As expected, the image is converting MUCH better with no background. I'm currently at 311 million iterations, with a normal distance of 4.63. I might let this one run overnight.

Well, here it is. This is a photo taken through the windshield of my 87 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z last August. The gf and I were in Heath, Ohio for the largest all Mopar car show. I modified the original picture somewhat, boosting contrast and saturation. I let this run 750 million iterations, and achieved a normal distance of 12.5. I used floyd dither at strength 1.5, yuv colourspace, and laoo palette.

Ok fine and here in Europe is winter and late night so I will not go out of bed now nor into the streets just to take a photo of the moon without stars, where I live they're not possible to see because of the city lights!

P.s.- Hey and sadly, perhaps not all that sad ;), at the moment I don't have a car nor a girlfriend , probably when I have the two or at least one of them maybe it's time to finally try Raster Converter or perhaps do other better things... I'll see when that time comes...

When you have a girlfriend, you won't have time for Rastaconverter or anything else! Try and do all those things now.

I know, it was 10years with one in the same house and the last half already married. But it was sometime ago when most and we also didn't had internet. She didn't pay attention to my 800XL but at least I could had 1hour or so per day or do a revenge when she was on a day job that my was a day at home at least one a week.

But that internet begin days at least she let me go to an old friend near home that already had web and waste some bucks on public acess places.

The only game that she ever played was Bang Bank vs her mother 50years old crazy to play Sonic and others that I left the Sega Megadrive with lots of games also with a Master System cart emulator and games I bought very cheap in a hypermaket clearance stock.

But I think that today with web, G2F,... I have to admit that it would be impossible she live with me 10years also with the car I had at that time I also had to travel to saw her family, places especially her mother like to travel, eat and buy things for free ;)...

Wow - great set of pics Mario!

Sneak peek of what I have running now (because of http://atariage.com/forums/topic/242517-game-titles-i-like-to-see-appearing-on-a8-hardware/page-2?do=findComment&comment=3437704)

*** EDIT ***

Now at 2,258,000,000 iterations and still improving. Normal Distance is down to 3.144972. I think I'll just let it run overnight and see how close it gets.
