Lendorien #1 Posted July 9, 2012 Came across this article today. Holy moly! Will he get the money? Doubtful. I wonder how much he spent to acquire all that stuff. Must have some money to put out to get everything NIB. www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-enormous-video-game-ebay-20120709,0,6539757.story And here is the auction. Looks like it may not have sold after all. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 300736052926

sqoon #3 Posted July 9, 2012 Maybe ebay called bogus and made him take it down?
Lendorien #4 Posted July 9, 2012 (edited) Maybe I should sell my collection. Maybe he was hoping you'd buy his. I suspect someone sham bought it from him and the auction was cancelled. Granted, 20 full complete sets is amazing, but 1.2 million? Really? Edited July 9, 2012 by Lendorien
fiddlepaddle #5 Posted July 10, 2012 ... Looks like it may not have sold after all. Can't trust LA Times, they routinely skip the hard parts, like verification and reasonability checking.
jhd #6 Posted July 10, 2012 How would he ship a collection that large? It would fill a good part of a sea container (8x8x24). US$1,200 in shipping seems reasonable, but imagine the customs and brokerage fees when it was landed! "Estimated Delivery within 6-9 business days" -- not unless the buyer is in Western Europe. SoulBlazer #7 Posted July 11, 2012 Here's a good article on Yahoo that talks about the seller and his plans, the buyer who bought it, and the shipping cost: http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/massive-old-school-video-game-collection-fetches-1-231803592.html
Cebus Capucinis #8 Posted July 11, 2012 Maybe I should sell my collection. I wouldn't if I were you. The Chinese economy has just barely become strong enough to have enough cash flow to buy your collection -- if they bought it (and they'd be the only ones who could), the world economy would collapse!
