troy
Is there a tool or something that will convert .a26 files to .bin files? Seem like the emulators that I use dont like or recognize these files.
joshk
On mime, I went to the directory in a command prompt window and type "rename *.a26 *.bin" and hit enter. Works fine

Thomas Jentzsch
Or just use the DOS command line: ren *.a26 *.bin
Ian Smiler B
Just wondering if there was a way to convert .bin to .a26 rom files as the new Argon emulator for android only recognises .a26 roms? Would like to try out Zippy The Porcupine on it. Not the end of the world as 2600emu runs both roms. Also is there a way to convert .bin to .a78 for the same reason above? Would like to try out some homebrew on the Argon emulator. Some roms can be renamed to work but some just crash the emulator when renamed. Thomas Jentzsch
.a26 and .bin files are identical. So you just have to rename them.
Wickeycolumbus
If I remember correctly, .a78 files contain some additional information in a header, so you can not do the same with those. It is additional info like bankswitch type/ROM size.

Zippy the Porcupine is a 64K game, which is extremely rare for 2600 games. It's probabley that Argon does not support a 64K games and/or EF bankswitching. If it is just bankswitching, I could see us doing that sooner rather than later. ARM code support is in the later category.

Games that we have the information for in our server side database will be recognized no matter what the filename/extension is (it is based on a generated hash for each game). We have a few thousand games in the database, but don't cover hacks and most "works in progress" (we have some WIP, but generally wait for them to go final). When we don't have a match in the database, we then try and determine it based on the contents. And if we can't figure it out that way, we fall back on the file extension. .A26 .A78 .COL .INT .LNX .NES .VEC We're in the middle of adding 5200 and 8-Bit support at the moment. For those, we're using/supporting .A52 for 5200 and .CAR/.XEX for 8-Bit. More info on the formats supported, and how to load them are here: Add games to My Library in Argon - Android device Add games to My Library in Argon - Google Drive

+Karl G
It's an extrapolation of F8/F6/F4 for 64K: http://www.taswegian.com/WoodgrainWizard/tiki-index.php?page=EF
