esplonky #1 Posted July 25, 2012 Thinking about playing LOZ all the way through in one day and streaming it. It won't be today, but it'll be this week if it happens.

esplonky #3 Posted July 25, 2012 I beat the First Quest last summer in two days, but I took long breaks (like played about 2 hours both days) so If i just sit down and play, I'll do both in one sitting.
MagitekAngel #4 Posted July 26, 2012 I recently did the first quest in three sessions. It was pretty fun to go through it again.
Turbogfx #5 Posted August 1, 2012 Both quests or just one? OK, this is probably a "n00b" question, but: what do you mean "both quests"? Is there a second one then?
NE146 #6 Posted August 1, 2012 OK, this is probably a "n00b" question, but: what do you mean "both quests"? Is there a second one then? Not sure if you're serious, but yes, NES Legend of Zelda has 2 quests with different dungeons (in different locations) & harder enemies

Says right there "Zelda - Second Quest"
HatefulGravey #10 Posted August 1, 2012 I never have messed with the 2nd quest. Maybe I should do that this weekend. Seems I remember you could name your character Link and start on that quest or something like that. I'm sure if I spend 3 sec searching the web I would find the truth of this but I'm lazy. NightSprinter #11 Posted August 1, 2012 And let me provide you a hint as someone who did a ZERO DEATH run of both (only save was after beating the first quest). Bombs are your ABSOLUTE BEST FRIEND. In addition to blowing open hidden passages/entrances, they also pack the power of the Magic Sword (meaning two bombs can kill those horrifically-powerful Blue Lynels). Against harder monsters, and groups of tough enemies that can be hit by bombs, USE THEM. Also, a well-placed bomb can kill a Manhandala (boss of the third dungeon in the first quest) with one explosion. Lastly, this game was one of the first to introduce the gaming world to sequence-breaking. Don't feel afraid to do some things out of sequence (like getting the White Sword before even tackling a single dungeon, or the Magic Sword before dungeon five, it can make a huge difference). This messed with whatever kid bought the game and decided to name their character "ZELDA" since after all, that's the name on the game. They ended up playing a hard ass version. They ended up playing a hard ass version. Ha Ha! That's a great idea, set up a parser that detects naughty words in the character name and sets them up with an impossible challenge. I must be developmentally challenged when it comes to this game; I have never come close to beating it and can't imagine getting through without dying. It's been a while, though, so I should probably try again.

Just getting to the first castle in The Adventures of Link is a nightmare for me.
pce_collector #15 Posted August 2, 2012 Props to the poster for trying this. I attempted this at least once, but I had to relinquish the TV to my folks. I think I did five or six dungeons in that one session.

Or maybe it was just as hard as the first quest being as they never knew a version easier than that which they had played. i.e. it's all relative

+Gemintronic #18 Posted August 2, 2012 Zelda was the first game where I realised the next gen games would all have endings. I thought only two "quests" was a rip off.

NE146 #20 Posted August 2, 2012 the second Zelda was crappy. hated that game. Oddly.. Zelda 2 is one of my favorite video games of ALL TIME. I still play it maybe once very year or two.. usually just to level up to Level 5 across the board before finishing the first dungeon. Here's a tip.. don't put in the crystals at the statue at the end by JUMPING over the middle of it. This allows you to milk experience points by going through the dungeon again (i.e. the 1st one) and save the crystal to when you really need it.. to get 9000+ points instantly for the higher levels

esplonky #22 Posted August 5, 2012 I did the first quest today. started about 1:30 pm, finished 6:30 pm. decided If I do stream, I'll only do the first quest.
NightSprinter #23 Posted August 5, 2012 Yeah, the second quest is quite a pain in the ass to beat. Moreso if the person wants to do a no-death run. That would be hell to try to stream. Such would probably be better-suited for a Let's Play style of recording.

Magic has to be at 7 in order to cast the thunder spell in the last boss, or else it is not possible, And even then you only have space for the "Jump" or "Shield" magic that can help a lot.
