Nice one! And I knew that Super Breakout 5200 cover rang a bell -- I'd just been looking at Out of the Blue but didn't make the connection. Funny that "blue" works in another way too.

OK, here's mine. All my clues are music videos on YouTube:

Maybe it's time for another clue or two? But definitely not this one:

(Hi, French lyrics!)

So instead, we'll settle for a cover, or really more of a clone:

It doesn't even come close to the original, of course. (I know people who'd say "Ugh, that's so white.")

Not Beamrider, Video Reflex, or a Froggo re-release. Froggo's not a bad guess, though.

Also, you shouldn't necessarily need to watch the videos to get the gist of the clues -- though the Chuck Berry one might give you a hint. (It's no accident that I chose a very recent performance.) And knowing a little bit about Pink Floyd would be helpful.

Looks like a copyright takedown was issued for my 5th clue, which was a cover version of Prince's "Kiss". I think that means a 6th clue is due:

Hmm, a little extra, then:

Clue #1 is about the game in general.

Clue #2 is about something in-game.

Clue #3 is about the game's title.

Clue #4 is about the gameplay, in an oblique way, and also the game's context.

Clue #5 is...well, it's not about the title or gameplay, let's say that.

Clue #6 is about the game's context and history.

Is it one guess per person...?

Let me explain how I TRIED choosing Sky Skipper.

-

Animals in Beach Boys picture (help animals?)

Roll over Beethoven (animals in Sky Skipper flip over?)

Stereolab (Diagonal flights used in game?)

Final Countdown (Flying, and time limit in game to rescue?)

lol, probably trailing way off...

Acid Drop.

My thinking.

#1 - Not sure. Wilson(s) did drop Acid. But this is probably referencing something in the song's title or lyrics.

#2 - Beethoven's Fur Elise is the BGM in Acid Drop.

#3 - Syd Barrett. Acid.

#4 - Haven't actually played Acid Drop, so I'm not sure how this fits. I know Acid Drop is a Tetris clone. Do you match colors on the diagonal? I had just recently been listening to this album, BTW.

#5 - Acid Drop is a Tetris clone with a plain white label

#6 - A European game.

^Christophero Sly has it!

Clue #1: According to some sources, Acid Drop was the last game released for the VCS (before the homebrew era), at the shockingly late date of 1992. Like poor Brian, it really "wasn't made for [those] times".

Clue #2: The game features a horribly out-of-tune rendition of Beethoven (Für Elise), just like the Chuck Berry video. (Seriously, the guy's completely lost it. But don't feel bad for Chuck, since he's an infamously unpleasant and perverse guy.)

Clue #3: Acid did Syd drop, and soon enough Pink Floyd dropped a Syd. And that song's about exactly that. You can see how far gone he is -- maybe his last official appearance on film?

Clue #4: Unlike Columns, there are no diagonal matches in Acid Drop. And it was published by Salu, and French for "Hi!" is "Salut!" (silent T).

Clue #5: Acid Drop was programmed by Dennis Kiss, and the whole game is like a bad clone of Columns. The label for Acid Drop is also plain white.

Clue #6: It's the Final game released for the VCS, and it was only released in Europe.

EDIT: Hey, nice to read that you were listening to Dots and Loops. I love that album!

Great guessing Chris, you probably didn't need all those clues...

I never played Acid Drop to hear the music, so I wasn't thinking in that direction. I was also thinking Moonsweeper because of Pink Floyds "dark side of the moon"? and Venus planet reference in Europes Countdown song, I dunno, I can't do the de-code the clues here.

I figured The Beach Boys title was *Made for these times* = time switching.

Final Countdown *Light years to go, in lyrics = Could be time travel in it?

So I just went with Time Pilot... WRONG ! ;)
