Satoshi Matrix #1 Posted August 2, 2012 As many of you will remember, earlier this year I finished up a long-time project of mine, the top 100 NES and Famicom games list that still matter. You can find that list on my blog at http://satoshimatrix.wordpress.com/ Since completing the mammoth list, it has been featured on RetroWare TV and retro gaming enthusiast and all-round swell guy JewWario contacted me expressing interest in an audio interview regarding the list of games. Learn the secrets behind the construction of my list, my personal history with the NES/Famicom, and my outlook on retro gaming in general. Come listen, won’t you? http://satoshimatrix.wordpress.com/2012/08/02/my-top-100-nesfamicom-game-interview-with-jewwario/ Full unedited version coming soon as well. BillyHW #4 Posted August 2, 2012 What was the Japanese word you used for 'crap video games'?
Satoshi Matrix #5 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Kusoge is a Japanese compound word - "kuso", meaning "garbage, crap, shit", and "ge", short for "geemu", the Japanese pronunciation of the word "game". It means, quite literally, "shit game". While you could say something like "Oh that game sucks", there isn't a single one English word that is equivalent, so kusoge prevails. In the short edited version it seems like I'm talking about kusoge for no reason, but the point was that the NES had a LOT of kusoge as well as games that were good at the time that have poorly aged (both make up what the AVGN has based his fame on) but at the same time there ARE great NES games that have aged well and are still fun to play. DemonoidTentacle #6 Posted August 3, 2012 I was just watching this, great interview. I've been meaning to start collecting Famicom for a while now but never committed, maybe now is the time for me to start.

HatefulGravey #8 Posted August 3, 2012 Very cool list. There are tons of games there I have never heard of. I haven't been big on NES collecting but have wanted to get a good start. I'll more then likely pick a few of these up today. Thanks for the effort, it must have been a lot of fun to get this list done.
