Jr Pac Man 5200

Recommended Posts

Hello. I have the unreleased jr Pac man 5200 prototype. Im wondering if any homebrew jr pac man has been made for 5200 because I have one for 7800 and super PAC man for 5200 and 7800. And how rare is this prototype? I'm on my iPad so I can't post any pics right now.

I'm not sure how rare the prototype is but the rom floating around the Net as well as the one here on Atariage has a bug. What date is on your prototype? If it's the one with the bug fixed it would be pretty rare. The bug happens when one of the bonus items floats over a power pellet. Once this happens you can't eat the power pellet and you can't finish the board. I have 8-bit version on cartridge with the bug fixed but it would be nice to have in on the 5200.

Hi Allan,

How did you obtain your bug-fixed Atari 8-bit computer Jr. Pac-Man cartridge? Does it have custom label artwork? Or is it part of a multi-cart?

Mine doesn't have that problem. I've made it to level 5 before and nothing happened. If you just put a fancy label on it you probably couldn't even tell it was a prototype unless you already knew.

Mine is just a single game cart. I got it from someone on Atariage who no longer sells carts. It has a label that was taken from the arcade artwork.

I bought a 5200 copy of Jr Pac Man from Good Deal Games a couple years ago. I tested it to make sure it played ok, and put it on the shelf. Does anyone know if the GDG copies have the fixed ROM or not?

How to tell if it's the bug fixed one...suicide with a ghost when a power pellet is being destroyed. If the power pellet stays and you can't finish the board then its the buggy one.
