Could a Mario game look like this?

Recommended Posts

I was looking for a Mario wallpaper for my computer and i came across this. apparently the person who made it made it with higher definition graphics.the graphics are beautiful(Bullet Bill has the background reflecting off his body everything looks so hevenlike. So could a Mario game look like this,I don't mean for Nintendo to change all mario games to look like this but make 1-3 Mario games like this(if the first one Preforms well and runs smoothly).

Gamecube could have handled that or better (limited to 480p, but so is the attached picture). It's not unheard of for nintendo to do the ol' 'graphical upgrade of some old game,' so I'm sure you'll have your chance at something along those lines someday.

In that shot, I feel that the colors are off, and their depth of field work really makes no sense unless there are some really tiny hills being held up right in front of the camera. (it would make more sense for them to be in focus)

I guess it could be done with today's hardware (i.e. the Wii) but I'm guessing they wouldn't clog up the screen with so much cloud/fog, since it makes platforms hard to see.

Agree with Reaperman... it's a neat concept, but there are a few elements that are just kind of "off". Personally, I always thought the simplified look of Mario games was part of their charm, but I'm open to trying something different.
