Cupcakus #1 Posted February 1, 2003 Yep... wireless gaming was almost 20 years ahead of it's time!!!! Stolen from the ExtremeTech artcle here: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973...3,854699,00.asp
Cupcakus #2 Posted February 1, 2003 Just realised I was quoted in the article too :-) Yaa hoo! To compare, try saving a new file with the words "Hi there" in Microsoft Word 2002. "That's 20 Kbytes, five times the amount of (ROM) space developers had to work with in the 2600," said Chris Larkin, a developer who's still writing games for the console. jjessop #3 Posted February 1, 2003 There was an even earlier Atari effort in 1982. KPIX channel 5 in San Francisco particpated in transmitting game data in the unused (at the time) vertical interval period of their TV transmissions. A receiver/decoder box was connected to a modified 5200 and some lousy pictures were broadcast (one was Ray Kassar) as a proof of concept demo. In reality it was a ripoff of the Teletext concept that was already out in France. Gives me the creeps to think Ray's picture was "secretly" being beamed to homes Jerry

Godzilla #5 Posted February 3, 2003 That is awesome. Is there anything the 2600 didn't pioneer ? :-)
DEBRO #6 Posted February 3, 2003 I think this is the product Rob Newman was talking about at CGE2K2. At least it sounds like it. He said it was a joint development effort with Atari and Activision. Is this the same product?
