videogametrader #1 Posted August 16, 2012 Hello everyone, Within a week or two Video Game Trader will be opening a new store in Burford, GA. We are in the final stages of securing our space on Buford Highway. We will be selling video games from the 1970's to today, with an emphasis on the retro games and consoles. In our plans in also a Gaming area where we will have multiple flat screens and will hold weekly tournaments. This game center will probably open after Christmas. We are planning a grand opening party, but would have limited room (fire regulations). So if you would like to attend this invitation only event, please private message me. You can also email me at vgtradernj at gmail dot com If you are part of a band that can play video game themes and mixes, or DJ and want some free exposure, please contact me as we may have live music. We will also be giving away coupons and copies of our magazine. We will be treating this like a mini video game expo, so feel free to bring some fodder to sell and trade. If all goes well, we will hold events like this monthly, or quarterly. Thanks, Tom Sansone www.videogametrader.com www.vgtradermag.com

Metal Ghost #3 Posted August 17, 2012 Congratulations! Sounds like an exiciting time and a dream come true. While being up in NY is going to keep me from coming and showing support, I'll be rooting for a successful launch!

Seems lots of them have closed over the last few years. I have not seen a Kmart but we are in the same plaza as Sears.

If anyone wants to stop by and say hi, please feel free. http://www.videogame...tendo/Gamecube/ $52 for Medal of Honor Frontline for the GC... seriously? I assume that's a typo... http://www.videogame...w/Sega/Genesis/ $40 for World of Illusion... sounds waaaay over $55 for Jurassic Park on the Saturn... Sorry, OP.... I think some of your prices are extremely wishful thinking based. Good luck I guess The gamecube game i need to update the price as it was inventoried last year, and it is New/Sealed. The Genesis game is brand new/ sealed that is why it is that price - gets $40 on ebay. Retail store prices are usually a little higher than online/ebay. The Jurassic Park is also sealed and is priced comparable to amazon prices.

Metal Ghost #13 Posted September 10, 2012 Hey, congratulations on the 'soft' opening. Hope things are going well so far. As I'm sure you are already aware (but it never hurts to reiterate) remember that business may be slow at first. It usually takes a while for word to get out. But keep the faith! And yea, i already knew that but thanks anyway. I had a store in Brick NJ for a little while so i know about that. However, we are going to start local advertising in October so that should help. Having said that, Saturday was much busier than i expected it to be.

videogametrader #16 Posted September 13, 2012 I've seen that Videogametrader site before.... sorry to sound like an ass, but it looks like every other video game online store that doesn't offer real pics of the items they're selling. I do not support stores with stock photos.... for good reason. I am sorry you wont support our small store. However, i don't know of any video game business that doesn't use stock photos for a majority of their items. I can understand someone wanting to see a picture of an expensive or rare item, but few people ever need to see a picture of the actual Rad Racer cart for NES, for example. Besides, if anyone has ever asked for a picture, we have always provided it. And if you want to see what the item actually looks like, you can always come down to the store. Tom PS. Didn't your mom teach you that if you couldn't say anything nice, not to say anything at all?

Didn't your mom teach you that if you couldn't say anything nice, not to say anything at all? Seriously? There are thousands on ebay that use real photos. In my experience, the less reputable stores will use stock photos. People who are ignorant of making proper item grades, and don't understand what truly constitutes a certain item description... those types of sellers will hide behind stock photos because it's easier for them to do so. The biggest excuse is time... which is understandable. The fact remains though, if you don't have the time to properly present an item/product to a potential customer, then you can't honestly expect to have the same amount of interest in your items for sale, as you would had you taken the time to take in depth pics combined with quality item descriptions. Your assumption is flawed for a myriad of reasons, the main one being that most people simply want to see what they're buying unless they 'know' 100% that the item will be as advertised, and guess what.... video game stores with stock photos are notorious for 'not' properly describing items... what a suprise, because a picture would clarify those situations in mere seconds. If I have to ask for pics to be provided while looking over potentially hundreds of items, then you've just asked ME to 'work' to support your business. Why would I ever take that kind of time out of my day, if YOU, the business owner don't see the value in taking the time to take pics of the items you're attempting to sell. Your mindset (imho) potentially/mostlikely speaks volumes about the quality of your product. 9/10 - when I buy something with no pic, it comes in less than described condition, or it is more than likely damaged or dirty in some way. PS. Didn't your Mom teach you that the Customer is always right?
godslabrat #18 Posted September 13, 2012 PS. Didn't your Mom teach you that the Customer is always right? I hope not. The man who coined that expression died penniless. Very poor business advice.

PS. Didn't your Mom teach you that the Customer is always right? With the exception of the eBay marketplace, and Craigslit, the vast majority of retailers do not provide actual photos of items. It just would take too much time to take a physical picture of each and every item. And what happens when i have 10 copies of a game? Am i supposed to have 10 pictures of the item? Amazon is probably one of the largest, if not the largest, online marketplace. And stock photos is what they use. I don't mean to be rude, but it sounds to me that you don't have a whole lot of business experience. I have been selling video games since 1999. If your description of said items is on point and applicable, then I will agree with you that a pic isn't 'truly' necessary. The fact that most descriptions are stock as well does not help the customer know what they're getting. I don't shop on Amazong, never have... never will. 9/10, the sellers look like middlemen upon middlemen, with stock everything photos/descriptions... no thanks. Not selling video games. the.golden.ax #21 Posted September 13, 2012 And stock photos is are what they use. Fixed that for you... wait, I thought this was a nitpicking thread. I just realized it wasn't. Sorry about that. Please, check out this new local game store if you get a chance. Anything is better than gamestop. *this post is 100% satire, and meant to be taken in a light joking spirit, where people of ANY COLOR or gender including those with all colors and genders at the same time can laugh about misspellings, grammar mistakes, what their mothers did or did not teach them, and of coarse most importantly Game Stop... yes Game Stop. The bearded lady of the video game industry. Pay allot to come see the freak show, and leave disappointed that you just wasted your money on a brief moment of stupidity* Wait, what did I just say?
