Bartsfam #1 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) I was just thinking about Air Raid for the Atari, and the Stadium Events for the NES that went for big bucks. What's the consensus on the most valuable Colecovision product in dollars? Would it be the CAT cartridge? Or, a working proto controller with the spinner? Or is it the purple proto Colecovision box? I don't want rumors or "would be valuable" if it existed. I want the "confirmed to exist", most valuable Colecovision product out there. Yurkie #2 Posted August 17, 2012 I think CIB Wiz Math and CIB Super Sketch are probably 2 of the most valuble original verified main stream items. Of course there are homebrews items and rare originals like the Bit Corp games. I am glad you mentioned the Caterpiller Cartridge. I personally am a little skeptical of whether or not it is a real orignal item, the main reason being that it is not even mentioned in the old ColecoVision FAQs and many hardcore fans colaborated on that. Couple that with the fact that only one person is known to have it and even after it was brought to the attention of the community, noone else has been even able to verify its existence. SKELETOR68 #3 Posted August 17, 2012 I am thinking it is the power supply, lots of Coleco Visions out there but alot with out power.
retroillucid #4 Posted August 17, 2012 Xonox CIBs Double-Ender Very though to come by! Wiz Math is certainly extremely rare too ..... Sammy Lightfoot too
Bartsfam #5 Posted August 17, 2012 I thought even the purple box for the CV, or the controller with the spinner control would be more valuable then any of those games.....
retroillucid #6 Posted August 17, 2012 I thought even the purple box for the CV, or the controller with the spinner control would be more valuable then any of those games..... Oh, yeah indeed! ..... But I though you were talking about released stuff only
retroillucid #7 Posted August 17, 2012 In that case, add the 3 different ColecoVision Press Kit
Bartsfam #8 Posted August 17, 2012 In that case, add the 3 different ColecoVision Press Kit There we go, I was thinking about more then just the games. But, it has to be something that is physically owned by someone, and verified as an authentic CV product.

I prersonally own the 1st and 3rd CV Press Kit , I know both Ikrananka and ColecovisionZone own the 2nd one
NIAD #10 Posted August 18, 2012 You can also throw in the mix these very valuable ColecoVision related items: Original CV Kiosk (owned by DoubleDown) Cabbage Patch Kids: Workout - Prototype Cartridge (owned by Willie B.) ADAM Computer Prototype with Wafer Tape Drives (owned by Walter B.) Intellivision Adapter (at least one is said to exist) and another really big one is the CED Player that Ralph Baer helped develop for Coleco and is said to be in the possession of a former Coleco Exec.'s son. There's plenty of other really rare items, but people just don't part with their CV stuff so market prices have never been set on a large number of these items. The most recent big ticket item was the Purple Proto Box and if I recall correctly, it went for close to $1500. Other than that, most items like the Press Kits and a Boulder Dash CIB have stayed in the mid $700 range.
ColecoDan #11 Posted August 18, 2012 Boulder Dash CIB cost me $870 from Ebay beginning of this year. I would think another Boulder Dash CIB or Xenox Double Enders CIB could definately pull in around $1000. I would think the authentic Bit Corp CIB defintately not repos could bring in over $1000 possibly even past purple proto box. There are things that are one of a kind but a game would have a greater community of people wanting it which can push up the price. I would think a functional intellivision adapter that can actually play intellivision games would be priceless. I would definately pay big money for that. NIAD #15 Posted August 18, 2012 - ColecoVision Official Membership (holographic) Card ( I WANT ONE!!!!!!) I almost passed out when I got my CV Video Club Kit with this card. I thought that there would be no way in hell that I would win that auction. Dan, thanks for refreshing my memory on how much it will probably cost to acquire a Boulder Dash CIB! Probably going to have to take out a home equity loan in order to afford the remaining original items that I need.

NIAD #17 Posted August 18, 2012 Oh my, if that Intellivsion Adapter ever shows up.... If this EVER did go up for auction and it indeed works, I couldn't even begin to fathom what it would cost to secure this one... maybe $10,000 and that probably wouldn't be enough. retroillucid #18 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) The most recent big ticket item was the Purple Proto Box and if I recall correctly, Someone already offered me $2500 for it Needless to say that I declined the offer This is not only a purple box, but the system inside also match the serial # hand written inside the box Also, the serial# sticker under the system is also different from the released system Edited August 18, 2012 by retroillucid

I'm thinking, purely in the interest of safety of course, and because of all those that would be interested in this, I likely have the largest Intellivision collection, that maybe everyone should just let me win it and then perform tests to make sure it works, using my vast common cart collection, thereby ensuring no one would have to put any of their INTV carts at risk other than me. That is a risk I'm willing to take on behalf of the combined Intellivision and Colecovision Brotherhoods. Thoughts?
