Fushek #1 Posted August 20, 2012 I'd love to hear the stories of how people managed to score their Spiker. I'm assuming that many won theirs on eBay, but I'm curious to see if anyone bought it when it originally came out or if anyone "stole" it at a garage sale, etc. If you can share price, that would be interesting as well, but understand if that's personal! My story isn't that exciting, it was an eBay auction from a short lived AA member who had Spiker, SMB and I think 60 or so other CIB games. We ended up doing a deal directly for $1300 which I felt was a good price and he was thrilled since he'd found the lot. Previously I bought my sealed bag Spiker probably 8 or 9 years ago for $90 IIRC.
Rick Reynolds #4 Posted August 20, 2012 I'm going to be hated... Years ago, I saw someone selling two (!) sealed copies of the baggied versions on ebay with a buy-it-now price of $300. (!!) I knew what I was seeing and pulled the trigger quickly. I then turned around and sold one of them on ebay for $300, making my total cost for my Spiker: free.

Alex.Pace #7 Posted August 20, 2012 I found a boxed Spiker in almost mint conditions on ebay, but the seller refused to ship it outside US. Then I contacted my friend David Harley who helped me. So i paid the price (800$), had it shipped to David who shipped it to me. I still think that It was an excellent bargain, at moment a boxed Spiker in good conditions is worth 1200-1500$. Bad Man Jose #9 Posted August 20, 2012 I need one, just have to wait my turn. If I ever see one at the tons of auctions and garage sales I attend, I will think of you first as your name was one of my favorite cartoons as a child Ready to form Voltron....Activate Interlock....Dynatherms connected....Infracells up...Megathrusters are go.... Atari_Bill #10 Posted August 20, 2012 Like cmart, I picked my bagged copy up 9-10 years ago from ebay for around $75. I really had to talk myself into spending that kind of money on this. Glad I did now of course.
Intymike #11 Posted August 20, 2012 I typed "spiker" in the searchfield of my e-mail program..and there it is...the mail from ebay, dated 5.7.2007. The price was $510 cib in mint condition (it looks like new!). Fortunately the exchange rate for the Euro was much better back then.

Thanks, It was my favorite cartoon.I recently got the entire Voltron 2 (Gladiator version) tv show collection. It existed in Japaneese but was never released in english. But I found a Spanish version which I understand. Around the time of voltron, computers were starting to become popular, and I recall a kid tagging up on the walls writting voltron, so the name stuck with me, since i taught he was using a cool name, graffiti was popular in NYC (In case your wondering I was not the one tagging up). When I took my first computer class they asked us to pick a username and I picked voltron, then from there as a youngster I kepted using it on many different forums and it just stucked. cvga #13 Posted August 20, 2012 I didn't buy it when the Intellivision was still popular but I've had it for a long long time. I think I bought it as part of someone else's whole collection for a relatively small amount of money.
OutlawTorn71 #14 Posted August 21, 2012 I bought mine in a lot of games in 2000??? Maybe 2001... I don't remember other than the whole and shipping was less than $
edintv #15 Posted August 21, 2012 I got a loose one trading it for some old US Playboys. I did know that the guy had spiker, I was expecting some loose commons. when i say it, I just agree of what he had to offer so i can get home to play. Very difficult game, i must say.

DZ-Jay #17 Posted August 21, 2012 I've never seen Spiker, though I hear of it a lot in here. Why is it so rare, and is it really that good to command such a price? Can someone post a video of the gameplay? dZ.

Can someone post a video of the gameplay? dZ. It, along with Stadium Mud Buggies, were the last two games released for the Intellivision, which accounts for its rarity. There seem to be a fair amount less of them than SMB as well. As for the game itself, it's not bad.
