RIP PSYGNOSIS

Recommended Posts

I remember me, my sister and her b/f all playing the original Wipeout on his PlayStation. Lots of fun. And the evenings wasted with Lemmings... memories...

Same here. Wipeout XL on my PSX got more time than any other game I had on the system. I still play it emulated on my PC.

I finally got tenka to work on an emu (doesn't work on epsxe). Hrm, why do I get the feeling this is some soft of commercial jelousy?

That was the only glimmer of hope for gaming on the Amiga.

Anyone know of a site that has expo'd the boxes? I always thought they were the most sophisticated of the era. Especially the 16-bit stuff.

Me too! There was just something about it. I know, I know, incredibly hard and unforgiving but still...and

then, they released in on the Lynx and I got to play it on the go! :)

The main issue I have with the ST version is that... it's slow. slow. slow. in some parts.

I played the Japanese Megadrive and the Genesis version ( different sprites & colors) and like them more...

Well, that's odd. I played Sonic on the Sega Genesis, and while SOTB on the ST is nowhere near

that breakneck speed, most people who I let play SOTB always complained about dying because

the enemies came at them too fast to react (traps too). Of course, if you played it enough, you

adapted.

I'm relatively new to the ST but I don't think SotB is slow...

I do think the PC Engine CD version of the game is the best version I've tried. :)

Been playing Wiz and Liz for Genesis a lot lately; picked it up mainly because of the Psygnosis name and pleasantly surprised how much I like it. RIP.

Such a shame, so many good games came from this company over the years! Many I still play

Baal, Shadow of the beast, puggsy, destruction derby, wipe out, g police! Amazing art direction playability and vision! Todays game industry has lost its way.

I really think anything other than the Amiga version is a step down, after all the game was designed around the limitations of Agnus/Paula/Daphne and for this reason the Amiga version is king amongst all :)

Personally I LOVE SotB, people moan about the gameplay but it is no worse than games like Rastan in the arcades and yet has such beautiful music and graphics on Amiga on top of the standard arcade gameplay :)

I know Psygnosis only from the Amiga/ST games. I wonder if there were any people from the Amiga/ST era still at Psygnosis after 2000?

I like the Lynx version of SotB. In parts it is quite different that the Amiga/ST version but I think it gave the game more depth.

I also like the Lynx version of the game. It is one of the better titles for that system.

Just curious, has anyone else tried the Turbografx /PC Engine version?
