twh/f2
Hi there, one question to the Gamebase Frontend: How does it handle games with two or more disk images? It seems that I have per entry one "selected file". I like the idea of Gamebase, but it seems that it is optimized to "Rom File" management. grtx, \twh
Mclaneinc
Hmmm, the free newsgroup servers I tried don't show the files in those groups A Torrent link would be nice, as I'm missing Atari_800XL_up_dax_Poland.part07.rar, part08 and part09... Jay The free servers won't, they rarely allow the binaries to be downloaded / shown.. But as you know now, you have those files

I like the idea of Gamebase, but it seems that it is optimized to "Rom File" management. grtx, \twh Normally all the files for the game are put in one zip and once injected into the emulator you would on the Atari simply go to file / disk drives in Altirra and normally it would already be pathed to the unzipped files BUT if not from the same browsing window in disk drives you would go to the drive with the Gambase main folder and beneath it you will see a folder called GBgame, inside that is a folder called 0 and you will find the unzipped files in that, just pick the next one and hit the fire button or space or whatever is on screen... eeun
How does it handle games with two or more disk images? It seems that I have per entry one "selected file". I have to manually add the second disk to the emulator's drive two, or swap disks where the game only supports a single drive. Gamebase adds some convenience, though. It copies all the disk images for a multi-disk game to whatever temp directory you've chosen under Tools / front end options. So at least you don't have to tunnel through directories. +wood_jl
Here are links that "a friend of mine" uploaded. Each host - of course - limits you to one download at a time, and also limits how many downloads can be placed in a day (or something like that/whatever). Therefore, multiple hosts makes it easier. These are the only ones that (I think, or at least my friend said) don't require registration. If you don't have these already, get them NOW while the links still work (checked as posting this). All parts are 195mb each, save for the last, which is 87.8mb. Haven't used it in month, but last tiem I did it took care of waiting and even can reconnect your DSL-router to get you a new IP. Of course only when you do not have a fixed IP address BTW, it can download YouTube videos and convert sound to MP3 automatically. EDIT: might as well post a link: http://jdownloader.org/ Edited September 19, 2012 by Creature XL

+orpheuswaking
Is there a way to update an existing install of the Atari GB rather than downloading the whole thing?
carmel_andrews
Will looksie at the rapidgator and crocko links, won't bother with the depositshit links (since it's not free to download from there anymore...dunno why they still have the free download option when they know that it's not useable, probably couldn't be arsed or bothered to update their webservice)

Mclaneinc
Sorry but the relative small size of the gamebase makes it silly to post little updates, even thing like the C64 gamebase are posted as complete lumps because there's always people missing a small number of files. Think yourself lucky, I just had to download the 11gigs of Amiga Demo's gamebase that I helped on because the changes were so varied. +nasty niff
I've just found out who you are, though i admit that it did take me until i nabbed that last part file from the atari 8bit gamebase (you are the famous or otherwise Mr Irvine) Didn't you once write into L.A.C.E (London Atari computer enthusiasts), since someone with the same name (who is better known as 'spite' of A.U.R.A (A fairly well known a8 crack/hacking crew or group in uk) wrote into LACE and the letter was read out Slightly disappointed though that the original uploader of A8 gamebase neglected or forgot to include the gamebase executable with the a8 romset, after all he bothered to include all the executables support files like the db and scripts etc (as well as icons) I noticed though that gamebase A8 'cheated' slightly by including the entire homesoft gamedisk set of 388 binary file menu's, along with the individual game files (as atrs) which sort of means that gamebase sort of supports nearly or all a8 games or edutainment programs on the a8 ever released Had to post it twice since this site or forum has issues with IE7 (since it messed up my first post) hi peeps, its me your are looking for , i am he spite of aura...i never wrote in to lace or used irvine as a name, you have a copy of the said artical, id love to read it... NEVER download an exe "downloader", "accelerator", or "helper" type program, it is almost always a virus, or other malware.
