davidbrit2 #1 Posted February 3, 2003 While I'm waiting for the glue to dry, I'll toss this out and see if anybody has tried it. I cut some little squares of aluminum foil, about .5 cm each. I then (very carefully) superglued them over the contact dots on the fire buttons. Also, I've buffed the traces on the printed circuit with an ink eraser, and cleaned the debris with a cotton swab. Has anyone done this with great success? As soon as the glue is set up enough, I'll see how it works on mine.
+Mitch #2 Posted February 3, 2003 It should work fine. Mitch http://atari7800.atari.org
davidbrit2 #3 Posted February 3, 2003 Oh yeah, it's working great. For some reason, the left fire buttons won't respond on either of the joysticks I've tried, though the keypads work fine. Is the wiring independent enough that I should suspect the controller port, or is it just a weird coincidence?
+Mitch #4 Posted February 3, 2003 That's very weird. So, the fire buttons on the right work but the ones on the left don't? If so, then it would have to be a cracked trace on the flex circuit or the contact traces are dirty. Strange that the same thing would happen to more than one. davidbrit2 #5 Posted February 3, 2003 Yeah, I couldn't figure out why it was doing that either. The top left button appears to work on at least one of the sticks. It's probably just a worn out circuit. By the way, you've got one more post until 1,000. :-)
