Hello,

I was recently going thru my collections (considering a possible sale) and came across a problem I had forgotten about. The Colecovision System I have plays the Atari 2600 games with the adapter fine but for regular Coleco games only gets a blank screen ??? I know very little about these andwas curious if this is a common problem and if it is a minor problem or a Major Disaster !!

Thanks,

Tom

If Atari2600 adapter is functional then it will always work in a non functional colecovision because it doesn't use any of the colecovision hardware except for a pass through to the rf.

No screen could be looked up on these forums for ideas to fix. If you are not good at doing things like that then you would just have to sell it cheap to someone who is good at fixing things. Or you can send it out to Yurkie on this forum to be fixed but it is not some cheap process.

Could be a bad VDP chip or BIOS chip but diagnosing electronics problems in a forum is very hard. If you don't have the skill set needed to attempt a repair, follow ColecoDan's suggestions and contact Yurkie for repair services. If you are not interested in repairing the system since you are considering selling your collection, donate it to Yurkie so that he can fix it and then find an interested buyer.

Whatever you do, don't just throw it in the trash seeing as there are a lot of people out there who can fix it or use it for spare parts.

Thanks for the replies.

I don't know if it is worth the time or money to repair. It has no audio as well with the Coleco carts. I guess I will leave it on the shelf for now as I am much more a collector than a player of these classic systems. ;) (although I always prefer a working system). It was interesting to find out the only thing the unit is used for with the 2600 adapter is for the RF pass through.

Thanks again,

Tom
