WAS FS: NOT-WORKING Original Gamepark GP32

Recommended Posts

For sale Gamepark GP32, comes with the unit, box, USB cable, manual and original box. The back has many scuff marks, the stick was somewhat modified by me. Sometimes it would not go one direction, so I shaved it a little bit, see picture.

The system was working fine when I put it in the storage (in the closet, w/o batteries, always used recharables). Just recently I wanted to check out some games on it, put some new recharged batteries, turn it ON and nothing. The power light is ON, but the screen will not turn on. I took it apart to see if anything is burned or lose inside, but did not find anything unusual. I have no idea what is wrong with it, one day it works and few month later it doesn't.
I really loved this unit, hate to see it gone, but maybe it can be salvaged for parts.

Price $40 plus shipping, your choice.

Well, I have the same story, a couple years back, packed away my perfectly working GP32, went to use it one day and completely dead. Never abused, I have no idea what happened. Well, good luck with your sale, hopefully someone electronically skilled can bring it back to life.

Most likely the system has become bricked. The Rom chip in these go bad easily. You can build a Jtag cable and reflash the rom as long as it has a charge it should boot with the reflash but once you reboot it will brick again. But this will tell you if it's the rom chip or not. Either way its a easy fix. I've done about 5 over the years for members on gp32x.com.

I no longer have a computer with a parallel port or I would offer assistant

Tell me more...any links?

I did find some info on JTAG cable, but couldn't figure out what is for.

If I can fix it, the I'm not selling it.

You can get the firmeware and some other useful information from Darkfadder

http://www.darkfader.net/gp32/

A Jtag diagram and flasher that is easy to build and use from Cobbleware

http://www.cobbleware.com/gp32/gp32jtag.html

Now the kicker is you will need to find an old Samsung cell phone usb data cable to hack off the port or you will need to solder the cable directly to the gp32 board

mobile phone connector / data cable (NOTE: charger-cables might not have enough pins to be useful!!!):

- Samsung R200 / R210

- NEC N21i

I cant seem to find the solder location information for the motherboard direct Jtag locations as its been about 3 years since I last used the information. Im sure its online still

After few years I decided to get this fixed.

Well, I made the PCB, wired it up to GP32, load the flashing sw and got error: Incorrect Flash Device

BTW, It's not for sale! Still trying to fix it.

so close...

Any thoughts anyone??
