SRGilbert #1 Posted September 18, 2012 Like most of you, I end up with a lot of extra stuff that I need to resell. Normally I sell stuff on Craigslist, but there is a local antique/collectibles mall that rents out booths and showcases and I thought I'd give that a try. For those outside of the Lansing, MI area, please understand that the main reason I sell local is to I hate ship stuff. Plus, I prefer local in case there are any issues, it's much easier to resolve. Any questions, please ask! I've got this posted on CL, so I'll just copy/paste here: Atari, Vectrex, Sega, Nintendo, PS1 RPG's and More at the Mega Mall (Mega Mall Showcase 33- Lansing) Come and check out our new case at the Mega Mall! We are collectors with too much, so we need to unload so we can get more. Just added: Sega Saturn stuff, including a 100% complete in box Model 1 Sega Saturn System. Just like it came from the store, with all the inserts, paperwork, even the little sticker sheets! Also available, a very nice copy of the very rare Saturn Bomberman in excellent condition! Original Playstation RPG games, too much to list! Nintendo Gameboy Color Pokemon Edition with Pokemon Red and Pokemon Crystal games, both with manuals. And don't forget: TONS of Atari 2600 games! We have over 150 2600 games with manuals most of them $3.00 or less, over 50 loose games, many $1.50 or less! Rare items like an original Atari 2600 Indy 500 in gatefold box with the Atari logo driving controllers, plus boxed games, both sealed and not. Vectrex games, Sega 32x games, and even a Nintendo Virtual Boy.. Also, a Vintage Coleco Donkey Kong table top arcade game, and a vintage Pocket Simon as well as vintage View-masters and reels and other toys! We'll but putting more in all the time, but don't miss out! To celebrate our grand opening, EVERYTHING IS 20% OFF THE MARKED PRICES! We are in Showcase #33 in the front row in Lansing's Largest antique and collectible mall, The Mega Mall. Mega Mall 15487 Old US 27 Lansing, MI 48906 Open 7 days, 11am - 6pm Thanks for looking!
SRGilbert #2 Posted September 18, 2012 Any remember, the prices you see are before the 20% discount, thanks!
+save2600 #3 Posted September 18, 2012 Very cool to see all that stuff in a retail environment. Wow - a quick look-see at the prices and they all seem very fair to me! There's a place in Volo, IL where the guy is priced so high, you will literally see the same exact stuff year after year. Don't know how he is able to afford renting space there! Good guy to deal with though. If you catch him while he's around - a friendly and jolly enough fellow that likes to talk and *will* strike a deal with you sooner than later. -edit- Jeez - I think in your case (no pun intended), you might actually need to raise the price on some of that stuff! $1.50 for Midnight Magic? $10 for a GBCA? Hope you can pay the rent and/or purchase some more capital to replenish the shelves if you want to maintain the space for a while that is. What's the DK Coleco priced at? And what Vectrex games do you have? didn't see them pictured...
SRGilbert #4 Posted September 18, 2012 Yeah, usually I sell system bundles, but I thought I'd give this a try. I think the prices are fair, but I'd be interested in opinions on the subject! The rent isn't too bad, but still I do want to make some money.
Zwackery #5 Posted September 18, 2012 That's cool! Hopefully it may even put you in contact with people who have some Atari gems to sell.
+save2600 #6 Posted September 18, 2012 IMO, I'd price certain 2600 games a little higher. Personally, in a retail environment, I wouldn't list anything at less than a few bucks. People are going to be paying with credit cards too, which always cuts into the bottom line. Not sure what kind of deal you have going that way with the store - but it's typically another expense to be aware of. Maybe raise the prices of those 32X games? One thing I always try to remember... when you go to sell something (especially CIB), can you replace them that reasonably? Typically not. Unless you've got the time and money to spend being a bulk buying bastard. Since you're asking for opinions... is the Pokemon GBA bundle priced a bit high? Or is Pokemon stuff still desirable? SRGilbert #7 Posted September 18, 2012 Well, I'm not sure if raising prices will work out. To be honest, I've been in there for over a month, and sales have been a little slow. Good thing I don't have to make a living at this!
+save2600 #8 Posted September 18, 2012 Good thing I don't have to make a living at this! Ahh, I see. Yeah, retail can be tricky and fickle to be sure. You'll want to keep advertising and listing this stuff online for sure. I know lots of vendors that do exactly that. It'd be funny to be a fly on the wall when some garage sailing bums are hemming and hawing over a few dollar game at your booth... when you show up, pull the product and explain that it just sold for twice as much online.
FABombjoy #9 Posted September 21, 2012 I wondered who was popping up in my craigslist searches. I figured these were remnants from the media place in Okemos... can't remember the name now. Good luck with it, and I'll be sure to drop by next time I'm on that side of town! For anybody in mid-Michigan that's never been to it, the Mega Mall is in a former grocery store, and is filled to the brim with booths. Totally worth the drive. SRGilbert #10 Posted September 22, 2012 Heeeyyy, how have you been? Nah, my stuff is twice as nice at half the price! Seriously, it's no wonder that guy went out of business.
JEFF31 #11 Posted September 24, 2012 Checked your booth today - looks great. Only had a few minutes to browse - will be going back soon to take a longer look.
SRGilbert #12 Posted October 22, 2012 (edited) Not sure if any AA'ers have been shopping my booth, but thank you if you have! Just wanted to let you guys know that I've up the discount to 25% off the listed prices now through October. Some stuff has sold (like the Pokemon GBC, go figure!) but I've added some new stuff too. phaxda #14 Posted October 23, 2012 This looks really cool. My wife is from East Lansing; I hope to check this out (and the rest of the Mall--sounds neat) on our next visit to Grandma's house.
