KevinMos3 #1 Posted September 27, 2012 I was making some end labels for my 5200 collection and I noticed the XE games could use the same treatment. I made some end labels for several of my carts and decided there was no point wasting my time on only myself -- so I made labels for every XE cart I could think of so I could share. Hopefully they'll be of use to someone. The labels should be the length of the front labels. I went with a design similar to the 7800 end labels since these came out in the same era. This is a 300dpi png that should be ready-to-print. The sheet is marked for cutting.
tjlazer #2 Posted September 28, 2012 Nice! Thanks for doing that. What kind of paper or labels can you print these on? Any ready made labels work?
KevinMos3 #3 Posted September 28, 2012 Looking at it now, I wish I'd re-sized some of those longer titles differently. Oh well. I've gone to a local print shop to get them done. Kinkos also does them. I plan to try them out tomorrow and see how their quality compares to the other place. I've been pretty happy with that print shop. It's kind of a mom-and-pop place and he has 3M sticker paper that he prints on and they turn out really nice. The adhesive is really strong which has been a problem I've had with store bought sticker paper in the past. As for cost, it's very affordable. I don't remember the price they quoted me a while back, but it was cheaper than the other print shop, (which charges about $5 for a 11"x17" sheet). I have no complaints about that price. I'm just going to try Kinkos to compare quality.
KevinMos3 #4 Posted September 30, 2012 Update: I can't recommend Kinkos. Their "lamilabel" is nice, but their print quality stinks. Lamilabel is when they print on regular paper and then apply a laminate with a sticky backside, turning it into a sticker. This would work well for Coleco type labels since they are very glossy. It might also look good for XE style labels. However, they have very poor regular sticker paper and it only comes in one type that is very porous. So, the adhesive, print quality, and paper quality are all very poor. I'm definitely going to use the other local mom & pop print shop instead.
KevinMos3 #5 Posted October 12, 2012 I re-sized the long name on some of the XE end labels a bit differently, (Rescue on Fractalus!, Into the Eagle's Nest, Flight Simulator II, and Barnyard Blaster). The image below is a sample because the forum software is resizing the full image. So, the 300dpi image is in the zip file below it. XE end labels (300dpi).zip I've also made a handful of end labels for XL cartridges. I don't have many of these style cards so I didn't make many, but I'm also uploading a template so anyone who wants can easily make as many as they need. The fonts I used (IrisUPC: early titles and Futura LT Extra Bold: later titles) are included in the zip along with a layered 600dpi Photoshop file. The gray surrounding the labels is excess to be cut off. The brown is sized just slightly larger than the brown area on the carts in order to fully cover it. Again, forum software resizes the image, so here is a smaller sample with the full 300dpi image zipped up below: XL end labels (300dpi).zip Photoshop template: XL_End_Template.zip Here are a few replacement front labels as well:
