Fifa 12 == Fifa 13

As if I didn't already have a low opinion of EA (and sports games in general), I saw this piece on Yahoo!.

The first thing that came into my mind was, "so what? Fifa '98==Fifa 13 too"

but this is actually pretty blatant.

Yeah they should have changed some of the graphics and title screens a tad, but as far as the game engine and game play, sometimes it's best to leave a sports title alone if it's dialed in. I don't play Fifa, but I play NBA Live, and in a lot of years, EA basically broke the game by trying to change it too much. NBA Live 2004 is great, but NBA Live 2005 and NBA Lives for a few years after that pretty much sucked -- in terms of playability and fun factor.

This wouldn't be a big deal if EA was charging $20 for it but I'm sure EA is charging full price for this.

What they should've done was say, "Hey, FIFA 12 was a solid title and we didn't need to change anything except rosters. If you're interested in an updated roster list, buy this thing we're calling FIFA 13 for $15 [or something inexpensive]."

 

We all know they would never do that.
