Next to a comic book store in Sannomiya (Kobe, Japan) central building I found a small computer shop that still had a Lynx I in good shape in the window. Nostalgic feeling...

Thats awesome! I've never used or played a Lynx I in person, thinking about getting one just to have one!

I found some Lynx games in a shop in Akihabara. If i remember right it was at Superpotato. It is amazing! If you stay in Tokio you should visit Superpotato!

Either there or the one in Den Den Town in Osaka...I saw a Lynx I a couple of years ago in a shop near Super Potato there.

I don't think so... Xbox was not popular, neither is the 360 today. The 3DO wasn't even very popular in the west, so I doubt it was successful in Japan.

It made sense for a long time too, because I'd say that between 1985 and 2005 Japanese games were the most popluar ones anyway, so there was little reason for Japanese to look elsewhere and for developers to support foreign consoles much.

  • 3 weeks later...

I can remember a webring of Jagfest pages around 2002/2003 around the world when Jagfest UK was starting off and there was a small obscure group of japanese atari fans that got together. Not sure what the website was now but I remember it was something pretty shoddy at the time so I doubt i'll be able to find any information on it. I know that the jaguar had a very limited release in Japan but i'm not so sure about the Lynx, so this could quite possibly be an import.

The Lynx had a release in Japan, that's definite.

Here's some new japanese Lynx games:

And a TV report on the Lynx from Japan, it even shows an unknown game by the name of "Monster Demolition".

This and more can be dound on rygar's website http://jeanphilippe.garin.perso.neuf.fr/reportage%20Japan.html :)
