JamesD Posted January 17, 2014 Share Posted January 17, 2014 On the Color Computer 1/2, if someone plugs something in (cart, joysticks, printer, etc...) with the power on it can kill a chip. Anything that plugs into the back could kill a PIA chip and I had this happen to my machine when I was a kid. Carts usually kill the SAM but I've heard of the CPU getting damaged. Carts are designed with the power pin shorter than the others to try to prevent this so it may be related to what you are plugging in.
