atari8warez
Excuse my ignorance on the subject, as I've never been interested in IDE connectivity and related Atari mods since I sold my MIO many moons ago. Can this cart be used with a real HD or is it just for flash memory. From the looks I would say no (despite the disk platter on the background ), but i wanted to make sure. Rybags
What CF type does it take though? I have SIDE and couldn't find any adaptor that allows SD cards -> CF Type 1 slot (Type 1 CF is 3.3 mm thick, the Type 2 is the 5 mm thick version) I don't know how it can claim "IDE BIOS" - cartridge by it's architecture doesn't allow low-level SIO override, or replacing the OS. Of course it could operate in a similar way to SIDE, ie have resident SDX and Xex loader. Another IDE type does muddy the waters a bit more, but a well done cart is more marketable than many of the internal types that replace the OS and often involve hacking the machine's internals. Seeing Steve/Atarimax is supporting it, I'd expect the quality to be the usual high standard.

+rdemming
ok,ok,ok, it's not REAL ide, call it CF cart if you want, A CF-card has a "real" IDE interface but the connector is just smaller. IDE-2-CF adapters are passive adapters that just wire from an IDE connector to a CF connector. So a CF-card is a "real" IDE device that just happens to use flash memory for its storage. +Larry
MyIDE-II is a very nice cartridge! And a lot of work has been put into it by both Steve and Mr-Atari. I believe that an internal version also planned (features unknown to me at this point). The only issue I've had with the original MyIDE cart is that I've never been able to get any type of SD card+adapter to work. But as Fernando says, the MyIDE-II + the "thick-type" CF adapter works just great. -Larry
fernando marrin
someone asked me, yes, the CF is not fully inserted, and it's backwards
Marius
Tomorrow I will get a beta-test version of this Cart from Mr. Atari himself. I will meet him at Maarssen meeting. I am very excited....
Marius
By the way... is it also possible to use the MyBios EPROM with this cart, so you skip the built-in features and still use it as a MyIDE 1 interface?

fernando marrin
some units are out, its final rev now working great!! you should ask Steve for price and availability, though i don't think there's a way you will be able to get a device with this kind of power for 50 bucks... mr-atari
Yesterday I did a demo at the C64/Atari/MSX-meeting in the Netherlands. Very impressive, great feedback. I will take my proto-type for demonstration to the ABBUC-meeting next week (27th October in Germany). It is not mentioned on the show-list and also not listed for the hardware competition. I will say the word when the microphone goes through the active club-members. Steve told me a small production-run is started. 8k and 16k cartridge support from flash or (read-only) ram is great to have. All updates can be applied via ATR or STUDIO-programming-cartridge. The studio makes it possible to add and customize the 512k flash to your liking. Also I have a working SDX-image with me from the DLT-guys :-) Still need some work in debugging some loaders, but it looks and works great! SIDE-loader / SDX / MyBIOS / 512k RAM on one cartridge......
