david_mn #1 Posted October 19, 2012 I bought a CV on eBay with an A/V mode. It works fine and looks great on my HDTV. Recently I bought an Atari adapter for it. It only output B&W video. Thinking that the adapter was faulty, I got ordered another one. In the meantime I found my original Atari adapter in the basement. So, I've tried three adapters in the CV and they all output B&W video. Is it a quirk of the A/V mod or is it something I need to try and adjust on my TV? Anyone ever experience anything similar? Zenimus #3 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) Is there a chance that you're plugging the composite video jack into a component (red, green, blue) connection port on your TV? If you do that, you'll get a very sharp, but B&W image. Edited October 19, 2012 by Zenimus
david_mn #4 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) Everything is NTSC. Coleco games play/display just fine. CV video output is composit as is the input on the TV. Red/White/Yellow. Edited October 19, 2012 by david_mn
jblenkle #5 Posted October 19, 2012 Just a guess...is the Color/BW switch set correctly on the 2600 module? I bought a CV on eBay with an A/V mode. It works fine and looks great on my HDTV. david_mn #6 Posted October 19, 2012 The only change from Color/BW switch is to change it from fuzzy B&W (color mode) to sharper B&W (B&W mode).
goldenegg #7 Posted October 19, 2012 What happens when you connect the system via coax?
jblenkle #8 Posted October 22, 2012 Ah, OK...I had no idea. I never owned an original 2600, just the Coleco expansion module version and as my original was ages ago I forgot what the switch was for. The only change from Color/BW switch is to change it from fuzzy B&W (color mode) to sharper B&W (B&W mode).
