Game Idea: Intellivision to 2600 Conversions

Recommended Posts

Just how do-able would it be to convert some of the Intellivision games to the 2600? I was thinking about some of the good Imagic games like Ice Trek. :?:

You know, the 2600 and the Intellivision actually had the same resolution (the 2600 has more now that we know how to do interlace ;) ) so it's really just the number of objects and colors per scanline thing again. Obviously some games like Deadly Discs and a few of the sports games would be direct translations, Astroblast with the paddle is much cooler than Astrosmash if still just as easy, I can't remember Ice Trek specifically so I don't know how well that would translate.

That's good news, even just the Imagic game list could add a pretty significant number of titles for the 2600. Anyone want to attempt Atari 'Microsurgeon'????

Or.... you can do them on the Lynx. No paddle but they would be a heckav an easy conversion.

Well, the Lynx's resolution was much lower than either the INTV or 2600. So the number of objects and colors would be easier to duplicate but you'd have to scale everything down, possibly resulting in ugliness (c.f. Ms. Pac-Man.)

I'm pretty sure it could, though I'd probably be tempted to use Andrew Davie's "chrono-color" technique from Qb to make 2-color enemies. I wouldn't feel too bad if someone else got to it before me though ;)

Oops, I meant Beauty and the Beast. I don't know why I typed Lock N' Chase (which, of course, already exists for the 2600)
