DZ-Jay #130 Posted January 2, 2013 Uh... what's "poutine"?
nukeshed #131 Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) Poutine is a Quebec dish, made with french fries, topped with brown gravy and curd cheese. Sometimes additional ingredients are added.[1] Poutine is a fast food dish that originated in Quebec and can now be found across Canada, and is also found in some places in the northern United States. It is sold by national and international fast food chains, in small "greasy spoon" type diners (commonly known as "cantines" or "casse-croûtes" in Quebec) and pubs, as well as by roadside chip wagons (commonly known as "cabanes à patates", literally meaning "potato shacks"). International chains like McDonald's,[2] A&W,[3] KFC, and Burger King[4] also sell mass-produced poutine in Canada. Poutine may also contain other ingredients such as beef, pulled pork, lamb, lobster meat, shrimp, rabbit confit,[5] caviar, and truffles. The word has a funny little etymology from French Canadian, when someone asked for his Fries and gravy to just be put into a bag for him, and the cook stated something along the line of 'Ca va faire une moudite poutine' (excuse the spelling), roughly translated to 'That'll make a god damned mess'. nukeshed #141 Posted January 21, 2013 Just to keep you disgusting bacon freaks happy. We have a yearly multicultural food festival in town, and there is always a guy selling those, as well as other 'delicacies', like Deep Fried Dill Pickles, and battered, deep fried Cheese Cake. Im pretty sure he can put bacon on whatever you want, too.
