And you missed his point, the point is that our community helps each other. If I wanted this auction and DZ posted this, I would shoot him a PM and see if he needed everything in the auction. If so, that's cool, I'd let him have it. If he was looking for certain items in it and I was looking for others, I'd see if we could work together.

Used to be that way in the Atari community as well with the major items, all the major collectors/archivers knew each other and respected if someone else bid on an item. Plus helping each other with trades or locating items. That pretty much ended when a certain group of individuals looking to beef up their database website basically didn't care and went after everything irregardless of any community.

There's also the angle that DZ-Jay is a programmer who, by releasing a new and completely original game, is doing a great deal to keep the Intellivision "scene" active and lively. Most of us appreciate that, and are more than happy to help out someone who's making that kind of contribution, whether by not bidding or by negotiating in private.

My point, which obviously went over your head. Is that you are doing yourself(the chance of winning the auction) more harm than good by posting the auction link. Nothing more or less. We'd love to, but you'd have to talk to Keith Robinson to get him to. We approached him years ago after doing the FB2 about doing a full INTV on a single chip system, but he instead went with the company that put out those "Intellivision" plug and play knockoffs.

 

BTW, I talked to him briefly at CGE along with his business manager - my next book project after we're done with the Atari books is a book on Mattel Electronics.

As far as posting an auction you are trying to win before it's ended, I believe that is a bad idea. Even if 100% of the active forum members was respectful and chose not to bid out of principal, on most forums there are like 10 lurkers to every member, and I am sure any one of the many lurkers out there would take great satisfaction in sniping the auction. In fact, there is another forum that I am a member of where it's against policy to list active auctions unless it is your own goods that you are advertising. The reasoning for this is that someone may be watching an item hoping to score a hidden gem, and an auction listing which exposes the item will ruin their chances of winning.

The reasoning for this is that someone may be watching an item hoping to score a hidden gem, and an auction listing which exposes the item will ruin their chances of winning.

 

But most of the Inty crowd is pretty good about it, and again, these aren't R9s/R10s. I think the last time someone was talking about something super rare, it didn't show up until after the fact when someone sniped him. (That spiker post, anyone remember what it was titled?)

I was coming here to say the same thing. A friendly counterpoint. While we are a happy helpful community, there a lot of people who lurk who either aren't signed in or haven't signed up at all. Maybe even some of those high end Ebay resellers like Pikachu07 (if i spelled that right). So you are still taking a chance when you point out the auction. I'd say the odds are still in your favor around here but i'd still be very weary and cautious.

I only need the box,manual, and overlays. But it is not that important. Don't ruin someone else's dream just to make mine. lol

 

I have higher priorities right now. #1 being a Diner box. #2 Christmas Carol. #3 Space Patrol. #4 Defender of the Crown. #5 The 2 ECS games i missed out on Flintstones and Super NFL. #6 Jetson's box. #7 4tris (maybe?) i don't need the game but it's only an unimportant tempation. I can play Tetris anytime i want on my Nes or Game Boy. #8-10 Not sure.
