Check out these cool LCD Game Sites guys!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I have taken a recent interest in LCD games, especially Nintendo's, and I have found some cool sites with great games.

pica-pic.com is a really cool site that has dozens of various perfectly emulated games, ranging from Game & Watches, to bizarre Japan only games, and also some Soviet versions of Nintendo's Game & Watches. The layout is really simple, all the games have customizable controls and even leader boards! Currently, the owner is creating a flawless version of Donkey Kong II, so please help donate!

http://www.handheld.remakes.org/ is another cool site. The playable games are mostly remakes of Game & Watches or ok ports, but there are lots of games you can pick from. The version of Mario Bros. on the site is excellent!

I hope you guys enjoy these sites. Game & Watches and LCD games in general are fun little time-wasters that can be just as fun as regular 80s arcade games. I already bought Donkey Kong Jr. from eBay!

-Happy gaming

I haven't come across pica-pic before. I collect these, but tend to stick the the games that are VFD as opposed to LCD. I really cant say that I have much of an interest in playing these games emulated on my desktop.

That said, hopefully some emulation will bring some of the outrageous prices down on these products.

Not likely. They're expensive due to rarity. Unlike other emulators, these websites actually have an image of the game, so it's very close to playing the real thing I think.

Pica-Pic got me interested into buying some real Game & Watches. So far I just have Donkey Kong Jr. It's somewhat close to the online version, but the real thing is more difficult, as you have to time your jumps more accurately. Donkey Kong and DK II are coming in my mail soon, so I will play those games as well. DK II is on Pica-Pic, but it's not finished yet unfortunately. :(

Also, Game & Watches sold very well. DK, DK Jr. Widescreen, and DK II all sold more than 1 million worldwide. The expensive prices only get more and more pricey, because they are by Nintendo and the don't suck. A loose DK II cost me $90 on eBay!
