Okay i didn't want to start this topic. I wanted someone else to start it but i have the patience of a 2 year old.

 

I have an Ebay Auction i know a few of you will go crazy for. Here is the description.

Who is IntellivisionDude's #1 fan? There is only one way to find out, in an all out battle. I can only have one #1 fan in the whole wide world. I can plenty of #2 fans, maybe some #3's and 4's. Heck maybe some #5's. But only one (i repeat) only one #1 fan.

 

I love all my fans just the same no matter what number you are. This is just for bragging rights.

 

I think i chose the perfect game because this could turn into a Space Battle. :-)

 

 

After i posted the auction i realized i forgot to mention that the game does work and it has a nice rattling sound when you shake the cartridge. That bit of info could make or break me on this. That could be the difference of .99 or more.

Also i think that all future IntellivisionDude style auctions (if there are any) i will do on Gamegavel instead. Far less fees. I already hate to think how much Ebay/Paypal is going to get off this auction. Yuck makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it.

What are the ebay/paypal fee? im curious i never sold an item. If there are two fees, it sucks bc its sort of like double dipping with fees, ebay then pay pal.

Since i did a straight up auction they take out 9%

And Paypal takes out 2.9% plus 30 cents fee per transaction

 

So if the auction would end right now Ebay gets $15.30 + .40 because i did the auction for 10 days instead of 7, i wanted it to end on Friday. Plus they take 9% on shipping fees too. So as long as it sells in the US they will get 9% of the $4.00 for shipping. So that's another 36 cents.

 

So now the total to Ebay is $15.30 + .40 + .36 = $16.06 to Ebay

 

And now Paypal takes out 2.9 percent on $170 + $4 shipping ($174) = $5.04? + .30 fee per transaction = $5.34 to Paypal

 

And total that's $21.40 of fees.

 

If i did that right. I failed math.

Fees are higher for Buy it Now auctions as well. Especially in the video games category. They take out 13% instead of 9% if you sell a video game Buy it Now instead of auction. And that would be 13% on the shipping too.

Actually there is a 1099 but it's something new and only for big sellers. You have to sell $20,000 in goods and services sales and completed 200 transactions. And i believe you have to have both requirements $20,000 + 200 transactions and not just 1 or the other.

i thought if you sold a single item for either 5 or 10000 dollars u had to do it?

yea ebay sucks. Its a like a sent partner stealing all of the profit, but you know about it.

 

The only upside is that most stuff sells for more versus gamegavel or craigslist. Selling in a forum or trading is the way to go, but even the forums dont sell for as much sometimes.

Well I can sort of empathize with folks like datari and their sky high prices now, bc they are just trying to recoup their loses to Ebay and paypal. hm So it seems like people arent really earning much then. I see people reselling homebrews at auction and hte game sells for 70, but it cost them 60 and shipping so they are taking a hit. Sellinon the forum doesnt seem to earn people much either the prices here are a lot lower mostly trying to break even.
