Coleco In-House CV & ADAM Utilities

Recommended Posts

About a year and a half ago I acquired a former Coleco employee's collection and included in this rather large purchase were a number of In-House utility carts for use with the ADAM Computer and the ColecoVision. Ever since then, I wanted some professional cart labels to place on these "nakked ladies" and thanks to a collaboration of the minds as well as tremendous artistic talents of PBoland, I know have some very pretty looking carts to showoff here on the forum.

The ADAM cart labels were inspired from Coleco's own label for the ADAM Diagnostic Cart but with liberties taken with the added copyright text at the bottom of the label. The ColecoVision cart labels were completely new designs (note that I only have pics of one of them at the moment).

For anyone in need of some custom labels for their own "nakked ladies", I highly recommend contacting PBoland to discuss matters.

You have destroyed what made these carts unique and desirable!! You should be publicly stoned to death and fed to the lions!!

They do however look fantastic. You should will them to me....just in case. ;)

I considered placing these custom labels on the cart shells very seriously before I did so and decided that it really didn't matter one way or the other due to the fact that the original hand written labels were placed on the cart shell by your's truly... there was no label of any kind on these cart shells. I also said to myself that I better take some pics before I place these new labels on them seeing as I will never have access to the PCBs again without destroying the new label.

Last, but not least, I do not forsee the day that I will ever part with them... so the decision ended up being very easy.

My wife understands the value of all this stuff (I sleep with one eye open if you know what I mean), so if I want to enjoy the afterlife... I better be smart about the decisions I make now. :P

I don't know about the one eye thing, but this time, do NOT let them slip thru your fingers! Awesome labels!!! :D

I hear you there ADAMcon. Indeed, selling my original collection back in the late 90's was a terrible mistake... both emotionally and now financially.

I'm back with yet another "nekked lady" that finally has been fully clothed, but this time it is not another utility... it is a prototype cart acquired from the same former Coleco employee of Video Hustler. This is un-modified Konami port that does not contain the CV Bios Title Screen and CV Skill Level Select screen, rather it immediately displays the Video Hustler title screen followed by player select options. Unlike the other pictured Cart PCB, this PCB does not contain sockets for the installation of the chips, but has the lone (E)Prom chip soldered directly to the cart PCB.

While the previous labels were thanks to the artistic talents of PBoland, in this case the label was designed by Retroillucid and came with his custom made Video Hustler box that I am very impressed with. Thanks Retroillucid!

BTW, I have one more cart to share pictures of when I have the time.

And last but not least is Nuvatec's Go-No-Go test utility for the ColecoVision. Unfortunately, this one does not display anything on the CV and this is probably because it requires additional test hardware to be attached to the controller port. Thanks go out to Nanochess for analyzing the rom dump that I provided in a different thread.

Also, a big thank you goes out to Sean Kelly for being able to fix one of the pins/legs on the Eprom that had broken off.
