Dreaming of Intellivision

Recommended Posts

OK ... yeah. A weird one (but true!) this weekend.

I never remember my dreams ... but I did this weekend. In my dream, my friend and I were walking through a bad part of some town and we were getting nervous with some shady characters offering to sell us stuff. Then, a rough looking black guy stops me and tells me to buy something from him. :-o We're nervous, but I manage to ask him what he's got.

"I got Snafu," he says.

"Really," I said. "Dude, I will totally buy that from you." (yes, I vividly remember saying that entire cheesy line).

In looking through his cache of Intellivision games, he also had Scooby Doo's Maze Chase (CIB of course!) that I agreed to buy as well.

I woke up shortly thereafter and told my wife about my dream. She shook her head and said what most wives would probably say in this moment:

"You're an idiot."

So I'm taking this as a sign that I think WAY too much about a game system ... anybody else here ever had an Intellivision related dream or am I the only one? (Please, don't say I'm the only one!)

Did you wake up to her saying. So who's this Carol you keep talking about? Have you been seeing someone else? ;)

A few years back, certain events in my life began causing my dreams to be incredibly vivid. I mean sometimes it's hard to tell if I am awake or sleeping- I see colors, hear music, taste food, feel pain, experience every sense and more, etc. I try all the regular tricks the experts say to find out if you are dreaming or not- looking at your hands, looking at a clock, looking in a mirror, but they don't work anymore. This has caused some disappointment.

For example, recently I dreamed of finding a small retail store operated by two white-haired, old gentlemen. In this shop, I found a glass case filled with brand new and never before seen Colecovision and Intellivision accessories. I had stumbled upon some kind of prototype and rarity treasure trove! I was grabbing everything I could carry, asking myself if this could really be happening. Everything was so real.. I had conversations with the old guys about collecting, and I even remember reading the boxes of the accessories. It was awesome!!

Then, I felt the familiar sensation of that reality fading away into normal conscious life. I have had many realistic dreams I awoke from to be extremely disappointed in the fact it was not real, but damn.. this one hurt a lot. My girlfriend rolls over to look at me and instantly asked, "What's wrong?!" I tried to explain, but that kind of disappointment is tough to impart by words alone.

Apparently, I need to dream bigger ... I got to buy Snafu and Scooby Doo ... you went all out with prototype heaven! If you're going to dream, dream big!

Man, you somehow weaseled your way into my head!

I consistently remember by dreams. They aren't lucid by any stretch of the imagination, but I do remember them vividly.

Last night, I dreamed I was going through the stuff in my uncle's office. This was in his old house, before he moved away. For some reason, I had it in my head that he had screwed me over on a business deal (we aren't in the same business, so I do not know where that came from) so I was looking for some way to get back at him. Opening up a few boxes in his office, I found a box that contained a few cellphones, a zip-up type day planner/organizer, and the French Canadian Sleeve Type Variant of LV Poker & Blackjack, as well as a Football game. The weird thing that I didn't clue into until after I woke up was that it was in the Digiplay font, but wasn't Futebal, but actually Football.

Strange, no?

Also, plz get out ov mah head. kthnxbai.

Now i have a dream to tell. It's not much but something. I was dreaming i was hanging out with collector John Hancock. If you don't know who he is i'll post a video below. I don't really know him besides the fact he may have commented on a couple of my videos, and i think he may be a member here. But anyway the only part i remember is that he was started to pack up some stuff he was going to sell (possibly as a flea market). And he was putting Nes Action sets in it, a Star Trek Pez set. lol

And i don't remember anything else. I think i was starting to wake up after that.

Most of my dreams are all over the place. A lot of time i will dreaming that i'm hanging out with a friend, and out of nowhere that friend turns into someone else. Or my home is actually a different home. Or i'm driving down the road and a second later i'm at home inside. etc. Usually off the wall dreams that most of the time don't make sense.
