Rabbit 2600 #1 Posted November 24, 2012 When I was trying too learn how to program Batari Basic I had a concept well thought off, but I could never get anywhere, really. I could make the player move but not much more. So, therefor I'm throwing my game idea out here! Dragon Slayer: Screen 1: You start out in a town with frightened villagers hiding in their houses. You have too go around knocking on the doors and gather 3 pieces of a map. But be carefull, the evil dragon has minions in some houses, so if you knock on the wrong door an orc will come out and chase you around untill you kill it with your sword. Too take a swing you push the button down and push the joystick in the direction you want to stab. The map pieces are worth 50 points each. Killing an orc gives you 25 points. When you have the 3 pieces of the map the screen is over and you go to the next screen. Screen 2: Following your map, you roam through a dark forest. You start at the bottom of the screen and are running upward, meaning trees will be coming down the screen at random positions, the same with orcs, except they are "shot" at the players location so they will go towards him, but will still be heading down the screen. The objective here is to collect 3 keys. Once you have those 3 keys the screen will end with a mountain coming up with a big door, the player walks into the door and it opens, head inside and the screen is over. Screen 3: You have made it into the dragons den! You stand on a wooden bridge over a lava pit with the dragon flying in the air above you. The controls are now more of a platformer then free-roaming. The objective here is too hit the fireballs the dragon spit down back up at him and hit him 10 times. The fireballs will destroy a block of the bridge, making a hole. If you fall down that hole you will lose 1-up. Once the dragon is defeated a melody plays and you start at screen 1 again, with faster enemies. This would be an awesome game in my humble opinion =)
+SpiceWare #2 Posted November 24, 2012 Neat idea, you should continue working on it. I'm sure you could get any help you need just by posting a new topic in the batari Basic forum. Be sure to include your source code (zip it up and add it as an attachment) along with the specific problem you're having and what you've already attempted to do to make it work. Pixelboy #3 Posted November 26, 2012 Looks a lot like Dragonstomper to me, but without the need for the Starpath Supercharger.
Rabbit 2600 #4 Posted November 28, 2012 Hm, I don't think it's like Dragonstomper at all =) I made a pc version of the game. Since I suck at programming for Atari 2600 I figured I'd make a pc version and maybe inspire someone =) Made in Multimedia Fusion 2. I personaly think this game was a lot of fun too play, and I might polish up the pc version with a highscore list later on, or add some new features if there is any interest in it http://www.speedyshare.com/neTkr/Dragon-s-Den.exe
