xDragonWarrior #1 Posted November 24, 2012 1.Mario's Time Machine.I have a strong bond with this game even though i never beat it(i had to ask my dad all the questions).Nice concept, play a Mario bros arcade level get the item, find the year it was invented and take it to the end of the stage.the bad part is that it's ridiculously hard,if your not a history genius you won't beat this game. Now they should remake this game on the Wiiu where it's the same ideal(you play the Mario bros. arcade game, and find out what year the item is from) but to beat the stage you have to play a real MARIO level where you can ACTUALLY DIE.also to make it easier, the Game pad would serve as a hint book. 2. Comix zone. A awesome smashup of a Comic and a Beat em up remade where you don't lose health from attacking things. 3.Earthbound,need i say more?,Remade on the Wiiu with deep story like the original with Beautiful graphics, one word EPIC!. 4.Jungle hunt and Pitfall,The Atari classics remade where you go DEEPER into the jungle . So what games do you want remade?
RJ #2 Posted November 25, 2012 We need a new Microsurgeon. I want to play it but refuse to buy an IntelliVision for a single game.
sega_SHARK #3 Posted November 25, 2012 I would like to see the Namco Generations Team do DIG DUG. I really liked the Pac-Man and Galaga remakes.
Lentzquest #4 Posted November 25, 2012 I'd like Silver Surfer to be remade right. The shooter concept fit the character well, and the graphics and music were great. It was just crippled with the one tap deaths, sheer difficulty, and pretty much no variety in powerups. Fix these problems and a modern Silver Surfer scrolling shooter with current gen graphics and sound would be absolutely amazing.
gorfcadet #5 Posted November 25, 2012 See, I thought Silver Surfer lent itself better to a Space Harrier style shooter. Sega style rail shooting would be a great fit ala Panzer Dragoon or Space Harrier for the herald of Galactus.
the.golden.ax #6 Posted November 25, 2012 Streets of Rage (I'd settle for remake being an official console release, not squashed by Sega)
gorfcadet #7 Posted November 25, 2012 Streets of Rage would be awesome! I would love to see a merger of Rage with a Phantasy Star Online structure of leveling up and questing, but with SoR play mechanics. 4 player online Rage would rock with player customization and enemy drops... maybe players could fight it out for drops after a boss fight? Good call on SoR Ax! Even if it was just a high rez update.

Satoshi Matrix #12 Posted November 26, 2012 Streets of Rage Streets of Rage would be awesome! It's actually been done. Streets of Rage Remake. An elaborite homebrew remake giant beat em up of Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3 along with new levels, new content, remixed music, new moves, new characters, enhanced visuals like transparencies and many other things. It was originally for PC, but since has been optimized to run on modded original Xbox. It absolutely rocks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF2WjhuWPhE No, this isn't a coming soon thing -its out and its great.
Metal Jesus #13 Posted November 26, 2012 I'd love to see a H.E.R.O. reboot, but with cool 2.5D platformer graphics ala Kim Possible: What's the Switch or even Donkey Kong Country.
Satoshi Matrix #14 Posted November 26, 2012 I think the obvious answer is Metroid II. Metroid II needs the Zero Mission treatment. I know there have been a few homebrew projects for the past few years, but this is one I'd like Nintendo to work on themselves and release on the 3DS. It doesn't need 3D, but it does need the benefits of a larger screen, a far more detailed HUD, a redesign to make the environments less confusing and samey, and heck, color wouldn't hurt either. It's too bad the GBA is long since dead, as in my mind Metroid II should end up being exactly like what Zero Mission was.
Cynicaster #15 Posted November 27, 2012 I know it'll never happen in a million years, but I'd enjoy remakes of Frostbite and Enduro, with no major changes to the gameplay. A new Robotron: 2084 or Smash TV that maintains the original "static" overhead view and doesn't try to use 3D would be awesome. Maybe a new Major Havoc with simulated vector graphics and a cool 80's tinged techno soundtrack to build up the tension. If any of these came to be, I'd like to see them sold as $2-$5 mini-games on PSN/XBOX Live. To be perfectly clear, what I'm NOT looking for is to be teased by a nice-looking but ultimately worthless touch-screen game on a portable device. I'm getting so f#*king sick of this trend where you have all these companies trying to prey upon our nostalgic reflexes by delivering these "repackaged retro" products that look and sound nice but are, for all intents and purposes, absolutely unplayable.

Absolutely agree. Which is why my "hope", if you want to call it that, would be restricted to older console games (Atari, NES) being remade because those controllers (joysticks, paddles) are easier to produce. I can't deal with remakes that aren't actually remakes because the controllers change, which is about half the arcade games that I love. Full disclosure, I did buy the Atari Greatest Hits for my Droid phone but that was pure nostalgia for the sound effects and graphics, I can't really get into playing Tempest on my phone because the controls are all wrong (but $10 to be able to see them all and hear them all, that was a good deal). Remaking Adventure for the XBox would be doable, it's just joystick movements with a button. Same goes for something like Asteroids. But don't "remake" a trackball game and leave out the trackball! Same goes for yokes and spinners. Package a home version of the controller with the game or just forget about remaking it. It isn't that hard to design a controller for the Xbox or Playstation with an actual paddle or whatever on it. Further to that, I am as sick of loud/flashy graphics added to old games as the next guy. Stop it! Those old games were great because of the gameplay, they weren't suffering from a lack of glowy neon colors added or massive Robotron explosions everywhere. And stop with the worthless "3D" additions, too. Doesn't help. Make the game play well, that's the only requirement. So my actual hope for remakes would be games that are true to the controls and graphics but expanded. Add more target types to Missile Command and Galaga and Defender, add more terrain and targets to Xevious, add extra levels and enemies to Wizard Of Wor and Gauntlet, add more rooms to Adventure, add more racetracks and car types to Pole Position, add more levels to Major Havoc, add more enemies and town sections to Armor..Attack, that sort of thing. Keep the graphics basically the same. I mean, you could put more detail in the cities and terrain in Missile Command, make the bugs and mushrooms in Centipede look more real, but don't get carried away. If the tanks in Armor..Attack could look like real Soviet tanks, ok. If the cars and rocks and grass in Rally-X can look a little more real, that's not so bad. But really, part of the nostalgia is the look, the simple designs and colors. You want to see gums and teeth on Pac-Man? And keep vector games vector, no solid replacement graphics. More detail wouldn't hurt but restrict the additions to more vector lines, not shaded graphics. This is, of course, the view of an old-school video game fan. chuckwalla #19 Posted November 28, 2012 Well, since i've been re-visiting Mr. Robot and his Robot Factory on the Atari and C64 lately, i'll add it here. How about a Mr. Robot cart with the original screens, plus another dozen (or two) new screens, and the screen editor - saved by battery backup like the 16-bit Sega carts. How about a Mr. Robot cart with the original screens, plus another dozen (or two) new screens, and the screen editor - saved by battery backup like the 16-bit Sega carts. Yes, screen editors and level editors would make repurchasing many of these older classics worthwhile. A level editor for something like Berzerk or Tempest or Wizard Of Wor or Major Havoc would be great, new tracks for Rally-X, new "shapes" for levels like for Omega Race or Dodge 'Em or Scramble, anything to add to the game itself once you get good at beating the stock layout. Many games like Space Duel or Star Trek or Centipede would be helped by just more randomization of enemies (beyond the built-in arcade versions) since the playfield really doesn't affect the game. Not sure how this factors in but someone made a remake/sequel to Robotron - http://www.robotron2.../mechatron2154/ Another thing, allowing some games to become two-player (cooperative or not) would be cool. Maybe for something like Star Castle or Centipede? But then there should also be more/new enemies to go with the increased player firepower.
Satoshi Matrix #21 Posted November 29, 2012 Read the thread title again and I can of think of several more flawed games that had real potential that I'd like to see remade. ANOTHER game that springs to mind is Advent Rising (Xbox 1) Awesome story and scope, dull gameplay and execution.

DestinedCruz #24 Posted November 30, 2012 I agree that Metroid II would be ripe for this treatment, as the original game is the worst in the series (short of Other M which was complete garbage). I would also love to see a Turrican remake that's actually good, because I can't freaking stand Hurrican or the like.
Pixelboy #25 Posted November 30, 2012 Simon's Quest? Actually, that's already been done, by a homebrew programmer: It's a PC game. I've played it myself and it's very, very well done! I do recommend it!
