Guest anastasakis
Hello, I bought an Atari 2600 from a flea market today and since It didn't come with a power cord I have no idea whether It is PAL or NTSC. My question is, how can I know what kind of Atari 2600 I have without risking to break the thing down because of overcharge. Instead of a charger, It came with a cord that looks like It has a US socket. Please leave a response If you know something.
alex_79
Most probably it's PAL (or SECAM), because it has the IEC antenna connector used in Europe. Anyway all 2600 consoles require the same input voltage: 9V DC, center tip positive. The connector is a 3.5mm (1/8 inch) plug like those used for mono audio. If you don't have one, you can just buy a cheap universal AC/DC power adapter and select the correct output voltage. Ensure that the polarity is correct too because you can damage the console otherwise. That power cord it's not part of the console. Phredreeke
That cord looks like one you would use to power a computer monitor through a computer.
