GuanoBowl #1 Posted November 29, 2012 So I have decided to post some pictures of my NES stuff. I have around 220 variant cartridge and box CIB's, close to 900 variant cartridges, 60 loose manuals, 8 loose boxes, over 40 different types and styles of controllers, a few complete boxed systems, tons of random items ranging from Super Mario Bros & The Wizard on VHS to an NES controller mint container. And last but not least I will take pictures of my "vs. Dr. Mario" arcade machine when I am done making it look better. First is my CIB collection. Re-arranged this by Game Developer and I have to say it looks pretty sweet. Here is my loose carts. I got lucky and found this shelf being given away and it was only 2 houses down the street. Popped it on my longboard and wheeled it back. Here is the controllers with literally no place to put them but up in the closet. And last is my boxed systems, controllers, misc items.
+Ransom #2 Posted November 29, 2012 Wow, that's a really nice collection. NES is a great one to collect for, because so many things were made for it. You can probably collect NES stuff for the rest of your life and never run out of things to hunt for.
nukeshed #3 Posted November 29, 2012 I love the closet pic... most of my stuff feels like that
high voltage #4 Posted November 29, 2012 Looks good, it's very seldom you see a decent NES collection here on AA

Michael David Morsette #6 Posted November 30, 2012 Love it! I just started collecting a few NES games; Zelda, Mario, the staples I had as a kid. A lot of nostalgia connected with the NES. Next on my list for NES is Final Fantasy
GuanoBowl #7 Posted November 30, 2012 Thanks for the comments. I tried to collect other systems but I just grew tired of it and kept the games and systems that I grew up with. Although I did grow up playing Atari and Odyssey2 systems every now and then at my grandma's house when I stayed there as a kid, I found the NES was a fun system to collect. Prices on retro games sure are on the rise sadly. Also, I will be getting this tower ( http://tinyurl.com/d6fgunm ) to hold my NES boxed games. My measurements show that 2 DVD's are about equal to 1 NES boxed game. So I figured this bad boy can hold at least ~238 games. Have room for about 16 more on it before I need to get a new one. Only problem is that they are not cheap. Not too expensive though.
+Ransom #8 Posted November 30, 2012 I'm coming to the same conclusion, regarding which systems to collect. It seems that any time I start collecting a system I wasn't particularly into when I was a kid, I end up regretting it. I guess some of us need nostalgia to keep us interested.
WispFollower #9 Posted November 30, 2012 Nes is the system which got me into collecting. It's great to see someone else here with a good assortment of things for it. Where do you acquire most of your items? How long have you been collecting?
GuanoBowl #10 Posted November 30, 2012 I've been collecting for about 8 years. I have had and played a ton of games as a kid but collection wise, I didn't start until around 2004 or 2005. When I first started I bought from LukieGames and a few other sites which offer free shipping on orders over $25 so I just bought the cheap of the cheap. And my luck, the games I bought were in great condition. I usually ended up with ~22 games per box. Did this once a month until all the games that were under 5 were in my collection. I've bought eBay lots and weeded out what I needed and traded/sold the rest and to upgrade the games that look better than my own. Local game stores here in my town usually have great deals on their games and since in the last few years I have been getting boxes and manuals, this guy who owns 2 of the stores here hooks me up with free NES manuals and cheap boxes. Usually sells me the box for about $2 per. He just sells the boxed game at cart price so he loses nothing in the long run. I've calculated up a good price which my NES collection is worth and it is around $11,000 which I know I have only spent around $6-7000 maybe less collecting over the years. Not bad. If you all need any filler games for your collection. I have a for sale thread here in the marketplace of my extras on NES and other systems.
Fr0st #11 Posted December 8, 2012 Lovely collection! I wanna do the same, start moving my other console collections and just concentrate on where it all started for me, the 2600. I have nes, snes, ps1,2, xbox, megadrive etc etc and only the cart stuff ever really gets played with. If I sold some stuff I could just buy more atari stuff. I did sell a boxed snes for 80 quid today, herself couldn't believe it! "€80 for a computer?! Wtf?!"
