IntellivisionDude #1 Posted November 30, 2012 Does anybody have any knowledge of this product? They sell both an Atari and Genesis version of the Retrolink. But i was hoping i could use both Genesis and Atari controllers with it. Wasn't sure how it was designed. The description and comments don't help. Wasn't sure if it wasn't compatible or if they are tying to rip you off and make you double dip and not tell you that you can use both. Here are links to both of them. I figure you probably couldn't use Genesis controllers with the Atari one but possibly Atari joysticks with the Genesis one. Unless they are both not compatible. http://www.amazon.com/Genesis-PC-USB-Cable-RETROLINK-Sega/dp/B0080RAT42/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top http://www.amazon.com/Atari-PC-USB-Cable-RETROLINK-2600/dp/B007ZS35CU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

+Gemintronic #3 Posted December 1, 2012 Cannot vouch for these people but they make an adapter that claims to do both: http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/atari2usb/#tab2
NinjaWarrior #4 Posted December 1, 2012 But they charge like $30 for one Will the Retrolink Genesis USB Cable work with Master System Controllers?
Andromeda Stardust #5 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) I have a Genesis USB adapter from RetroUSB: http://www.retrousb....&products_id=69 I have used it to test Atari joysticks and it works. The joystick maps to the D-Pad and the red button activates two of the action buttons in the gamepad control panel (I forget which, it was "B" and either "A" or "C"). Cannot vouch for the Retrolink though, but it probably works the same way. They also sell an Atari USB port that also works with commodore, SMS, and 7800: http://www.retrousb....&products_id=70 The Atari one is digital only however so it won't work with Paddles. IntellivisionDude #6 Posted December 13, 2012 If anybody was wondering, i did buy the Genesis retrobit usb cord and it does indeed work with Atari 2600 controllers. I didn't get around to testing if both buttons worked on my Nes Modded 7800 controller but was happy to see that i could use it to play Burgertime on the Intellivision. Yay
NinjaWarrior #7 Posted December 14, 2012 How's the Button Mapping on the 2600 Controller?
IntellivisionDude #8 Posted December 14, 2012 How's the Button Mapping on the 2600 Controller? Please explain, i'm still kind of noob lol. All i know is that i tested it using a 2600 Wico Command Joystick and it worked and fire button worked. And just now i re-tested the 7800 controller and the second button doesn't respond at all, not in the Intellivision emulator or through the properties screen for the controller on Windows itself. So it acts just how it would if you plugged a 2600 or 7800 controller into a Genesis. And for further testing i download a 7800 emulator and was able to use a Genesis controller and the second button responded after i mapped it. So unless your a purist and must use a 7800 controller for 7800 games a Genesis controller will work using this cable. I mainly bought this for Intellivision games anyway (the ones that don't require a lot of buttons) and i can use my Genesis controller and modded Nes controller to play games like Burgertime (extra levels hack) so i am happy.
