playazclub #1 Posted December 7, 2012 So, I've been kicking around the idea for about 7 months now about naming my soon to be second child (due in two months and gender unknown) Coleco Adam if it's a boy. So, while I don't consider myself a die hard enthusiast (by this I mean it in the most positive way) like some of you guys - I love Coleco (more specifically the Colecovision) just as much as anyone. So with that said, Is this a line even you die hards of the brotherhood would not dare cross? Or has it been crossed? Or is everyone here a virgin but me? Full disclosure - My first child was a girl and we named her Reatta after the Buick Reatta because along with vintage gaming, I also collect Buicks including 4 1968s GS 400/Sportwagon/Skylarks. So I'm not new to this whole odd naming stuff. My wife, as lenient as she is, does have limits and has potentially agreed to Cole.
OBO #2 Posted December 7, 2012 use "Cole-Adam" for first name ? (Anyway, it's not worse than the parents who told on twitter their daughter's name is "Hashtag".)
Pixelboy #3 Posted December 7, 2012 In all seriousness, I think Adam would suffice. If anyone asks where you took the name, you can just say "the Coleco Adam computer from my childhood".
+Ransom #4 Posted December 7, 2012 Yeah, if you name your son "Coleco Adam," then you'd have to rename your daughter "Buick Reatta" just to be fair.
+grips03 #5 Posted December 7, 2012 Go with Adam, the name is for them not the other way around. Seven is also a very nice name

NIAD #7 Posted December 7, 2012 Congrats on the upcoming addition to the family and I hope all goes well. I actually like Cole Adam or maybe even Adam Cole would be better, especially if your last name starts with an E, then his initials would be A.C.E. Virgin? I wish! It would be great to experience that first again, especially having the hindsight now to know that "it" will never be as incredible as that first time. I can't believe that no one else has asked this question and I just can't let it go, so "Was Reatta conceived in the back seat of your prized Buick Reatta?". If so, I'm glad it was that model Buick and not the GS 400 or the Sportwagon, not so sure how those names would have gone over.
playazclub #8 Posted December 8, 2012 Congrats on the upcoming addition to the family and I hope all goes well. I actually like Cole Adam or maybe even Adam Cole would be better, especially if your last name starts with an E, then his initials would be A.C.E. Naw, it's wagner - but you should have known that. Have you already forgotten the moment we shared with the Victory cartridge Virgin? I wish! It would be great to experience that first again, especially having the hindsight now to know that "it" will never be as incredible as that first time. Well, Unfortunately my first time was a disappointment ... for her and me. Little Coleco wouldn't get past the screen that required Reinsertion I can't believe that no one else has asked this question and I just can't let it go, so "Was Reatta conceived in the back seat of your prized Buick Reatta?". If so, I'm glad it was that model Buick and not the GS 400 or the Sportwagon, not so sure how those names would have gone over. You kill me. Actually, never had a reatta - Was supposed to be named riviera after my first car; a 68 riviera. But alas - promises made years ago did not hold true. As for the other car, think if she was conceived in a Roadmaster That's a big girl!!!!
NIAD #9 Posted December 8, 2012 Indeed I remember it being Wagner, but I had to play dumb in order to get that A.C.E. reference in. BTW, I have an extra Victory cart now (For CV & ADAM label) for the price of shipping if you still need one. I can't recall if you had mentioned that you acquired one or not. Sometimes it's best to have someone blow on the old card-edge adapter before insertion.
playazclub #10 Posted December 8, 2012 Sometimes it's best to have someone blow on the old card-edge adapter before insertion. :rolling: I tried that. I think the rubbing alcohol I used the night before might have shorted something though. You're too much. BTW, don't worry about the Victory. I forgot to mention the other possibility for a name that I've thrown out is to sorta name him after me. My first name is Mark but doing a junior is played out so I was thinking middle name Mark, and maybe a really cool tough sounding first name...like Skid. Those are the two choices I've given her. ColecoDan #12 Posted December 8, 2012 You are going to name him Skid Mark, Am I the only one that gets how humiliating his life would be or did you mean it to be funny like that.
playazclub #13 Posted December 8, 2012 You are going to name him Skid Mark, Am I the only one that gets how humiliating his life would be or did you mean it to be funny like that. Just a little humor - although I think it would be cool to have the name Skid Kudos for being the first to pick up on it though.
