IntellivisionDude #1 Posted December 7, 2012 Just a small small observation i been noticing. I always associate both these games because, A. The are both games that were hits on the Atari 2600 then ported to the Intellivision. B. Have about the same rarity. And it was my understanding that Defender is worth more (not by much) but a tad more. Unless i'm wrong on that. But i always hear people talking about River Raid all the time like it's sought after 10 times more. I almost never hear as much talk about Defender. voltron #2 Posted December 7, 2012 I think its because of the auction for atari river raid.
BassGuitari #3 Posted December 7, 2012 Couldn't tell you. They're probably both pretty tough to find CIB, if that's what you mean. Not that hard to get loose (like most Intellivision games). River Raid's the better game, IMO. Defender is basically good, but the Intellivision controller does it no favors.
Kefka15 #4 Posted December 7, 2012 I prefer River Raid personally. Always have. Even on the 2600. I found River Raid much harder to find for a good deal than Defender. Maybe that's just me though.
atari5200dude82 #5 Posted December 7, 2012 I like River Raid better also on the Intellivision.
JasonlikesINTV #6 Posted December 8, 2012 (edited) Nice condition River Raids for Intellivision go for approx $80-100+, but you can typically find a slightly beat up copy for <$40 CIB. Defender is harder to find CIB, and Atarisoft boxes didn't hold up nearly as well, so be prepared to pay for a good one ($40-100+). I got my Defender from Anne (UtahMountainRose) as part of a larger lot of rare games, so I don't know what I paid for it. It's in decent condition, and if I were to sell it on eBay, I would probably list as BIN for $80 and lower if necessary. +cmart604 #7 Posted December 8, 2012 Dude this is actually a good comparison, these two games can change places price wise depending on the shape of the boxes and how desparate bidders are. They're also two of my favourite games to overcollect as well.
