Mclaneinc #3 Posted December 9, 2012 Very nice, loved the twisty scrolls, best I've seen. The only thing with the music was that it sounded like someone was constantly firing a nail gun in the room Nice demo tho, can't wait to see it on the real machine.. +JAC! #13 Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) And me of Boogie Factor (C64) - in a good way. Really innovative ideas and fluent presentation. I like the hires parts - well and all others. Never though 4x players would be good background GFX. Thumbs up for Lamers!, the group with the most unsuitable name. >That was my msx I had discuessed this with Nils and we decided that the music is so good, it deserves two good releases :-) Edited December 10, 2012 by JAC!
Mclaneinc #14 Posted December 10, 2012 Love the demo JAC! Plasma clouds, brilliant.. The FX were stunning and new (to me) But to all, when can we have the real files to see, youtube is ok but stuff like this needs to be seen in the flesh..
w1k #15 Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) i found downloads here: =Atari%20XL%2FXE&order=added"]http://pouet.net/prodlist.php?platform[]=Atari%20XL%2FXE&order=added Edited December 10, 2012 by w1k
Heaven/TQA #16 Posted December 10, 2012 @Jac Yeah, the msx is great and never mind. of course you can use it but I heard it 100x while developing the intro so I was little bit suprised when I have listened few seconds of your intro. I personally don't like the 4x Players with gfx in the background as it definitly looks so 70s 2600 but maybe that was the intension. but I love using 4x PMs for small texts/gfx on top of screens like the dancing queen in the demo. Atari8bitCarts #19 Posted December 10, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA_264OfBtU&feature=youtu.be Are these real Atari 8-bit demo's, or just contructed to "look" like it is? I've been seeing alot of these video demo's but never a real working piece of software? It would be easy to create these in some other environment and make them just look "old". Really, what would be the RAM requirements to run this game on an Atari 800/800XL? What would impress me is a working game within 64k on an 800XL, or 48k on an 800. Don't get me wrong they are colorful, and imaginative.
wieczor #20 Posted December 10, 2012 Are these real Atari 8-bit demo's, or just contructed to "look" like it is? I've been seeing alot of these video demo's but never a real working piece of software? I assure you they are real - I saw them inperson running on real machine - in Boogie Nights I'm personally involved even have source code Really, what would be the RAM requirements to run this game on an Atari 800/800XL? First, it's demo not game, so there's no interaction. Second - now 1MB became a standard equipment - like Candle's Ultimate. What would impress me is a working game within 64k on an 800XL, or 48k on an 800. And there are plenty. Just about Boogie Nights: every single part of that demo (I know that transitions are fluent) is running within 64KB of basic memory. Demo needs 192KB to run - extended memory is used as a kind of storage from where incoming parts are retrieved and decompressed. They could be also read from disk, but transition would have to be much longer... And there could be problem with music. Demo is just meant to push pedal to the metal.
