toptenmaterial #2 Posted December 10, 2012 Woody or Vader? Does anyone know what this is worth? If in excellent shape I'm guessing $60-$70?

gzsfrk #5 Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) Man, those woody 4s seem to be popping up like crazy here locally over the past few weeks. I've picked up 4 (3 working) in the last month off craigslist for around $8 each (along with 1 woody 6 that came with a bundle of a bunch of other systems/carts). I'd never really opened one up until I started poking around in that one broke one, and I couldn't believe how minimal they are on the inside. They literally could have shrunk the size of the VCS down to that of an oversized calculator if they'd wanted to; far smaller than the 2600jr was. They're like 90% empty space by volume. I guess that was always Jack Tramiel's approach, though--do whatever it takes to reduce the costs over the life of the system while keeping the external appearance and functionality the same. I've read that Commodore nearly brought TI to bankruptcy by forcing them to sell TI-99s at a loss just to match the continuously-dropping price on Tramiel's C64 and VIC-20 models, both of which were being seeing constant hardware revisions in order to reduce their manufacturing cost. toptenmaterial #6 Posted December 10, 2012 @classicrock909: if you are like me and only do a little bit of selling here and there, then you might wish to pick up the tapatalk up for your phone. it lets you post pics directly from your phone. also, i would be open to bartering on atariage, as most folks here probably already have a vcs or two. good luck with your sales and welcome to the marketplace!
