+1 here too. I mean obviously I want one considering I'm willing to trade a whole console plus extras.

 

It would be a real feat to see this in the AA store. There ought to be enough room for everyone to make some money... Developers, publisher, license holder... The game already is at 3 figures to the end user and has willing buyers... At least enough to do a publish-on-demand model, which is what the AA store does I'm pretty sure.

Just to make it clear when I ask what your licensing fees are, I am not asking for a monetary value. I am asking whom do you need to pay licensing fees to and are their stipulations like you "have to" do a run of a certain minimum, maximum and such.

Either way, there's no right or wrong on these things. You and I know there's no such thing as Jaguar Socialism. It's all about making money, and there's nothing wrong with that. What makes people even bother in the first place though, is their interest in the system. I want a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB, and I'm pissed that I missed production, and/or couldn't afford it at the time. They should have made millions of them.

But it's strange because it was called "Out of This World" in the US because "Another World" was taken by a soap opera in the US.

It's probably a mix of both. It's definitely a port.

 

It's probably condign to call it a Homebrew as well. It was ported by one person in their spare time that wasn't getting paid a wage for it or guaranteed any compensation for it. They did it voluntarily on their own.

LOL I HIGHLY doubt this. They ported this game with the sole intentions on doing a production run.

 

The Retro-Gaming Connexion (RGC) association is proud to announce the upcoming release of the game Another World on cartridge for the Atari Jaguar console. The iconic game, released in the early 90s, has been adapted by Sebastien Briais of the group Removers of Jagware with the blessing of the original developer, Eric Chahi.

 

The RGC is producing the game in the truest spirit of the original Jaguar releases, in cartridge form with a box and manual. In order to fund the project through the various stages of manufacture the game is being offered by pre-order. Release of the game is currently slated for Spring 2013. Does it really matter if it's considered a homebrew or a commercial release? The lines between the two are a bit fuzzy at times. There are homebrew games that are better than commercial releases and vice versa, for just about every system.

No what matters is people calling a game a homebrew when it is a port. I understand work goes into both but a homebrew is completely different. A homebrew is a new game developed by said person(s) built from the ground up. A port is taking an already existing game and it's code and putting it on a different system.

 

This makes a huge difference on many levels.

Yes to both. And it's not a straight port either. SebRmv wrote a script compiler from scratch which improves the performance of the game several folds.

 

But why do you care so much? You wouldn't be looking for excuses to build "reproductions", would you?

I don't plan on doing it, but not because I feel like I owe it to anyone to not do it. I don't do it because I respect the wishes here regardless of how absurd I find them or how hypocritical I find them.

 

On the flip side I hope China starts making all these games.

 

I list my games as reproductions, others don't. It's a simple fact. If people ask me to make these games and I say no, they just move on to the next person. These games get made regardless, that's what happens when you have a shortage of an item.

 

Yes I have been asked to make this game, and no I have not made it, just to clear that up.

Given youre so keen, perhaps you could negotiate. Contract with the rights holders. Then you might start to appreciate the ins and outs of such supposedly absurd and hypocritical practices (seriously, Im a little confused as to the meaning and / or intent of these assumptions / assertions).

 

Id personally love to see more Battlesphere Gold and multiplayer adapters produced (legitimately) but the rights holder of these games and the hardware dont seem to want to, which while frustrating for myself and others (as thered be a fair few Jag owners whod buy) is completely understandable due to the low absolute numbers and high up front costs. Thusly, I dont post about it nor hassle the rights holders, its their prerogative to do as they see fit with their game.

Contracts? I'm still waiting to be told of all these "imaginary" licensing fees that were paid to "imaginary" people. I don't buy it. I highly doubt a single licensing fee or contract was needed to produce this game. Even if there was how hard is it to do a new run? So now you are saying "imaginary" people don't like to make money? More like said individuals like their limited run to stay limited!

 

Please by all means allow me to negotiate with people on how to sit on their ass and collect a check, that sure does sound like a hard task to sell. Man I'm sweating just thinking about it. "Hey Joe, you want to make money of this game from 20 years ago that we don't have to do anything for but just let the checks roll in?", No Pete to hell with that, I don't like to make money."

Lastly it is NOT accurate to call a port a homebrew. Hell so now I can start selling every Megadrive game I toss on a Genesis cart a Homebrew? How about every translated game, those are now homebrews? How about game hacks like Super Mario World Return To Dinosaur Land, which is a completely redesigned game, where levels have been altered and shit tons more work went into than simply porting code? They are all now homebrews. No a homebrew means one thing just as a port, hack, translation means something completely different!

Yes hypocritical in the sense many times Jaguar games are simply ported from other systems w/out getting rights, so essentially the games are reproductions themselves, yet they get mad at the thought of other people making reproductions of the reproduction they illegally made in the first place lol.
