Another World Jaguar Pre-Order

While legally there may be no difference, I just don't feel it's right to produce physical copies of homebrew authors' games without permission. In the nearly 20 years I have been publishing games, I have never made copies of a homebrew author's game without their blessing, and I don't intend on altering that policy anytime soon. It's why I haven't produced copies of the excellent 2600 game, "Man Goes Down", even though we were originally slated to publish it, the game is nearly complete, the label was finished, and we even started work on the manual before contact was lost with the author.

Come on? Downfall?

Was permission given to port it?

Downfall is not a port. It's an original game written from the ground up.

In fact, Downfall itself has been ported to several other systems, using the same name, with our blessing. So there's that.

Which, by the way, is an awesome game! I never played Downfall, but I did buy Downfall+ when it was for sale on cartridge... it's awesome!

While it seems light and fun... there is a sense of eternal despair when I allow myself to think about the fact that I am in a free-fall into a cave, and unless there's some magic where I come out the other side... I know it's simply a matter of me forever being stuck in the pit.

Ok that only resembles Man Goes Down like 100%.

That's like me looking at a picture of Pac-Man, drawing it and then calling it Pizza-Man and acting like it's an original drawing.

Of all the people in this thread, I would expect you to be able to tell the difference between an original and a reproduction.

You're really grasping at straws trying to make that comparison. Might as well start calling all first person shooters ripoffs of Doom.

Never heard of Man Goes Down before. Tried to Google it.

Porn like crazy.

What system was it on?

It's an Atari 2600 game from back in 2004..

Very well done, still makes the best use of the AtariVox I have seen to date. Game is not complete, though, if you get deep enough into it you'll see it's not finished.

Here's a video, but it doesn't have the AtariVox audio.

(Two videos posted, first of Man Goes Down, second of Downfall)

Not sure what you're trying to prove here other than your ability to post two videos in the same post. Congratulations! Maybe next you can move on to applying logic to your arguments. It would show real progress.

Someone lock this thread.

No! This is good stuff! When the aliens come millions of years from now, and they find THIS thread, which was incidentally stored on one of the raid drives from Albert's system... that had been encased in mud from the horrific Austin Mudslide of 2029, and this thread is still continuing... they can use it as an indicator of what life was like on Earth...

LOL are you serious right now. It's is OBVIOUS what I am trying to prove here and anyone with eyes can see it.

Based on the responses I'm getting it appears as long as you write the code yourself and change some graphics and the name all is fair game.

Well in that case I think someone should program a game on the Jaguar about a guy jumping down while collecting fruit. Maybe he could be jumping roofs or jaguar carts. We could call it "A long way Down".

If anyone does program a game like this please allow it to be put on carts so people can actually enjoy it!

We did. They are. What you mean is 'allow scumbags on Etsy and Ebay to profit from other people's work.' - That isn't going to happen, shame you are so butthurt about it.

LMAO this is epic right now.

On a side note I was unaware you finally decided to produce it on a cart again. That's great now people can stop bothering me about making them a game they want to play.

I'm not gonna pretend like I know you sell repros on etsy or eBay, but if so.. I'm unsure why you're having such a great time with this. The work CJ puts into ports to the Jaguar is far greater than anyone's reproduction work. If the argument is they're profiting on porting these ST games to Jaguar as physical copies, then as just a repro seller you have so little ground to stand on you may as well be in the Mariana Trench.

By the way, not hating on repro sellers either, just ones that come acrossed so pissy.

I do sell repros on ebay abd Etsy, there is no pretending, I'm not denying it. I as well am knock going out of my way and calling people scumbags for doing EXACTLY what I already do! Simple as that. Sure I profit from other peoples work but guess what if you are profiting off someones else work as well you might not want to be throwing punches.
