+Random Terrain #1 Posted December 27, 2012 This is what Bryan Cranston looked like in 1982 and notice the thickness of his face and the mole: o.canada.com/2012/07/23/watch-breaking-bads-bryan-cranstons-first-tv-role-bisexual-husband/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7r7pcqXGlU So how could this also be Bryan Cranston from the around the same time period? www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRZydV8VCL4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRZydV8VCL4 If you want more Bryan Cranston, here he is in 1983: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkjyXKAmLto www.tvguide.com/PhotoGallery/Best-Class-Bryan-1021845/1021860 eBay Auction -- Item Number: 251057160460 If I had a million dollars, I'd bet it all on that not being Bryan Cranston in the Mega Force commercial. _

+Random Terrain #6 Posted December 28, 2012 Added a couple more photos and put them all in a row at the bottom of my first post. Also added this video from the soap opera he was in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkjyXKAmLto
CPUWIZ #7 Posted December 28, 2012 Zoom in on the pic with the yellow sweater, you will notice that the mole is mirrored and has makeup on it. It could very well be him and dates maybe off a bit.
+RevEng #8 Posted December 28, 2012 Here's a side-by-side comparison, with a bit of unsharpen-mask on the commercial image. I think its him, they just shot him a bit lower than usual in the commercial so his chin is less pointy and his nostrils are showing more. (and he seems to have a perm.) Otherwise, same asymmetrical mouth and chin, same trademark mole, same eyebrows, and same distance between the eyes.
+Random Terrain #9 Posted December 28, 2012 Here's a side-by-side comparison, with a bit of unsharpen-mask on the commercial image. I don't see a mole. I see a smile line or vertical dimple where the mole should be. Bryan Cranston's mole is outside of his smile lines/dimples. The eyes look closer together to me. The eyebrows seem to be a different shape.
+RevEng #10 Posted December 28, 2012 The eyes are the same distance. Here's an overlay of the two. (click to animate) Look at the distance between the eyes, eyebrows, and nose length. IMO, the nose and chin shape just look different in a way that's consistent with the down-low perspective of the commercial.

+Random Terrain #14 Posted December 28, 2012 When I see Bryan Cranston on TV, in a photo or whatever, I don't immediately think "that dude's eyes seem to be too close together." But I think that right away when I see the guy in the commercial. He looks like the unholy result of a three-way between Popeye, Brian Keith and a Pound Puppy.
+RevEng #15 Posted December 29, 2012 It's just the environment that's throwing you, I think. You're not used to seeing him at that angle, and playing a 2600. I'm sure you'll agree these look a little less odd...

+bennybingo #17 Posted December 29, 2012 I wonder if Bryan Cranston is aware that a bunch of retro gamers are currently debating his participation in an Atari commercial from the 80's?
+RevEng #18 Posted December 29, 2012 After staring at Bryan Cranston's name for a few days, it occurred to me that its an anagram for "try bra cannons". The guy in the Atari commercial is clearly pro-missile. He's letting loose like there's no tomorrow. Its a small leap from being pro-bra-cannon to being pro-missile. I think Bryan has a hidden pro-arsenal agenda here, and he doesn't want his leanings known... hence the mole-makeup and the perm. So its the same guy. QED.

Cebus Capucinis #20 Posted December 29, 2012 I'm considering sending a screen cap of the Mega Force commercial to his 'autograph' address, asking if he can write "To AtariAge -- Keep On Playin'!" LOL

Cebus Capucinis #23 Posted December 30, 2012 Oh, I get it. It's like that time in September I swore I saw you hiding from me behind a pinball machine in a gay bar in Portland. Exactly like that. Only it wasn't just a "gay bar" that night, it was exclusively drag queen evening. I mean, uhh, yeah, you "thought" you saw me!
lakawak #24 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) A bit of gravedigging on this thread, but I have two words to clear up the "is it or isn't it" question... PHIL HARTMAN. Think about it...Hartman was in other Atari 2600 commercials. Mostnotable is the ice hockey one where he acted fairly similar to this one. It looks FAR more like Phil Hartman than it does Bryan Cranston. And doesn't look anything like Cranston did in the early 80s. there is absolutely no indication that it IS Cranston, other than some random person with a YouTube account first said to himself "Hmmm...that looks a little bit like Bryan Cranston" and posted a video, and typical of the internet, other people used that video as their source and then others used THOSE people as their sources.
