StanJr #1 Posted February 11, 2003 I was playing Battlezone and I kept getting killed way fast as soon as the orange tanks appear mainly because stuff starts popping up from behind and blowing me away. After awhile you cannot out run them, and there is NO time to turn around. Is there anyway to last more than a few seconds at this point or is the game just lame after a point? I really like Battlezone, but I hit the wall way too soon. Maybe I just suck.
Nukey Shay #2 Posted February 11, 2003 Yep...it's all in the turning. The tanks are definately pervs, but by driving backward and turning only when a shot is being fired...you should be able to best them. I can't. Dang yeller tanks blow me away. NE146 #3 Posted February 11, 2003 I know there's a definite strategy to avoid getting shot in the arcade game.. I haven't played 2600 Battlezone in years so I'll have to try it out and get back to you (Been playing a lot of Robot Tank however...has anyone here ever finished this game?) Osmeroid #4 Posted February 11, 2003 I didn't know Robot Tank had an ending. I've only made it as far as the night stages.
moycon #5 Posted February 11, 2003 Seems to me after you destroy 12 (or 13?) tanks you move on. I think the farthest I've ever gotten was 5 groups. As far as Battlezone. I've never gotten into it. I always thought Robot tank was the better of the two. BTW: The title of this thread is very Freudian StanJr. Sigmund Freud wrote: Tell me about you're papa
NE146 #6 Posted February 11, 2003 I didn't know Robot Tank had an ending. I've only made it as far as the night stages. Well, according to the instructions there are Twelve Squadrons of 12 tanks each. And the game ends when you destroy them all. BTW..ever notice that once it gets dark.. it tends to STAY dark and then foggy? Where's the friggin daylight?!
moycon #7 Posted February 11, 2003 I wonder what happens on the last group, Does the game just stop? Is your score replaced with bangs? !!!!!! Or does the game keep running but no new tanks show up? I know the farther into the game you get it becomes impossible to avoid the tanks fire. Every time a tank pops onto the screen it fires off a shot immediately. Someone needs to hack this game and remove the tanks shells. Yeah I'm a cheater...What of it?

That'll at least allow you to finish the game eventually
Godzilla #9 Posted February 11, 2003 i love perverted message titles. twist and shout! constant twisting, combined with forward and backward motion, depending on the direction of the enemy. I can remember back when I played this game a LOT I got to the point where I could ALMOST indefinately dodge their shots. They fire in a straight line, so the proper direction twist, combined with the proper movement (the rear is usually the direction of choice, but sometimes forward is neccessary,) will always get you parrallel with the shot, intead of in line with it. Big Player #10 Posted February 12, 2003 Yep...it's all in the turning. The tanks are definately pervs, but by driving backward and turning only when a shot is being fired...you should be able to best them. My strategy exactly. Drive backward constantly and turn to keep them in front of you. I concentrate on the radar screen and only look up when targeting.
