sqoon
Picked up this 6-switcher from Goodwill yesterday, but the bottom label is missing. Front corners look rounded, so maybe it is a Sunnyvale 6er?
SlowCoder
Nope. That's a light. The heavy has rounded corners on the front, rather than the angled "V" shape.

PitfallHarry2600
nope. Light Here's my Heavy: You can compare it to your light, and you'll see that the edges are much more rounded. Wickeycolumbus
The easiest way to tell is the thickness of the plastic on the side. On a light, the plastic is maybe 1/8", while on a heavy its nearly a half inch.
sqoon
^ I don't see the difference in wall thickness. Roundness of the lower front corners is definitely noticeable, but the thickness of the black lower shell wall looks about the same between my pics and those of PitfallHarry2600's. It's quite clear if you have a good picture Which of these two is heavy?
AtariLeaf
It's quite clear if you have a good picture Which of these two is heavy? Does all the dirt and grime on those units affect their weight at all?
Thomas Jentzsch
Hm, here the corners are not rounded, but the walls look thick.
Unbeliever
Looks almost exactly like my light 6-switch I have. Edited January 2, 2013 by wolfpaw1966
Master Phruby
I thought the only way to tell if its a heavy sixer is to open the case and see about nine inches thick of plate metal armor.
BassGuitari
The thickness and rounded corners vs. sharp corner things tend to confuse people who don't know what they're looking at. I'd say an easier way to tell is that the sides of the Heavy Sixer are more or less horizontal and very different from other Atari systems. If the bottom half of the case is shaped the same as a 4-switch (thinner plastic, sides protrude at an angle), then it's a Light Sixer. The console should feel substantially weightier than other 2600s as well, and sturdier.
Unbeliever
It's funny....I've been around this site for so long that I could easily tell from just quickly glancing at the picture! Listing to the "professionals" around here (and you know who you are) has given me incredible insight to the Atari 2600 system.
SRGilbert
When you see and pick up a H6r for the first time, you will understand and will never mix them up again.
