What is this cable for?

This cable came with VCS I got at Goodwill. It was plugged into the controller 1 port, and has what looks like a headphone input jack on the other end. Really strange.

Unknown to me, and probably not actually an Atari component. Can you see which of the DB9 pins go to which contacts on the jack end?

Yeah Goodwill employees for the most part have no clue what goes with an Atari 2600 or a fish tank. The employee that sorts probably just threw the cord into the lot. I am VERY surprised that you even managed to find a 2600 @goodwill as they tend to auction them. I personally have not seen a 2600 in the greater Portland area for the last 5 years. And, yes, I frequent them on a weekly basis. And that is over 30 stores (I have no life). Anyway, I do not recognize your cord at all. Good job on scoring a 2600, do you have pics. of all you bought?

Mxyzptlk: I found a 2600jr at a PDX goodwill about a month ago. $10 with a power supply and a joystick. I think I got lucky for sure.

Somebody must have dumped their entire collection right after Christmas because I got the console, this strange cable, and a few rarer game cartridges. There must have been at least 30 games, but mostly commons.

That cable looks similar to one I had with a digital camera years ago. Mine plugged into the computer's serial port.

Agreed on the digital camera cable.

That's a Panasonic Digital Camera cable. You had to use a program called PhotoMax to extract photos, until they rigged up a TWAIN driver.

I remember something like that with an elcheapo kid's digital camera years ago.
