+cvga
My 7 year old wanted to hook up a system he's never played so we dragged out the Jaguar... Raiden - 20 minutes - we enjoyed being able to play simultaneously Checkered Flag - 10 minutes - wow, this game is bad. Ruiner Pinball - 15 minutes - Yawn. Better than Checkered Flag but a pretty boring pinball game. We like Devil's Crush tons better.

karokoenig
Happy New Year and may this be the year I reach 999,999. Wish you all the best for that goal. What if you achieve it, by the way? Burn the Kaboom cart in a bonfire and try the same with Super Breakout?

(Note that I used estimated numbers for LidLikesIntellivision's playtimes, based on 5 minutes per "try" and 1 hour for a long, high-scoring session.) And: the 2013 year-end stats are a-coming!

twoquickcapri
I can't believe that Windows 95/98 almost made it into the top ten system list. Oh well maybe next year.
carlsson
Great lists! Just for fun, I tried to group the main CPU of each system to get a total count. Apparently the 6507 in the Atari 2600 and the 6510 in the C64 both sort as 6502, and I also consider the Ricoh 2A03 (NES/Famicom) to be close enough to a 6502 to include it in the same category. On the other hand I suppose the HuC 6820 (PC Engine) is different enough to keep separately. On a similar note, I grouped all 680x0 systems into one, but keep the 6803 (Tandy MC-10) and 6809 (CoCo, Vectrex) apart. I don't know if the SuperH-2 (32X, Saturn) and SuperH-4 (Dreamcast) techincally are similar enough that they deserve grouping together. The "Atari DSP" relates to the Jaguar, I suppose I could call it "Jerry" instead. The "Arcade" category contains all sorts of CPU's, early ones often Z80 but I think also a fair bit of 68000 etc which is too hard to sort out so I put it as its own entry although there is no particular Arcade processor. Even with all those considerations in order, the list contains 23 mostly different CPU's, and that is not considering other architectural differences, rather impressive I think! 1. 6502 (45358) 2. 68000 (36942) 3. Z80 (8999) 4. MIPS R3000A (6596) 5. Arcade (4097) 6. ARM60 (3561) 7. X86 (3220) 8. Atari DSP (3018) 9. 65816 (2764) 10. SuperH-2 (2346) 11. CP-1610 (1673) 12. SuperH-4 (1034) 13. TMS-9900 (962) 14. NEC VR4300 (779) 15. HuC 6820 (650) 16. 1802 (249) 17. 6809 (207) 18. NEC V810 (55) 19. 2650A (47) 20. 6803 (26) 21. 8048 (23) 22. 8021/TMS1100 (13) 23.
